Protecting with the mantra and mudra of the deity, and entering the practice room after bathing with other mantras and mudras, and the detailed order of protecting oneself and the place, is as it appears in the Mantra Sequence. For the abbreviated version, it is not fixed, and the practice of doing it that way is not prevalent now. The second aspect has two parts: the contemplation that is a branch of recitation, and how to recite. The first aspect has two parts: generating oneself as the deity, and visualizing the deity in front and making offerings, etc. The first is to invite and offer to the assembly field. The method of generating the six deities is: Thus, with "My own nature, in the ultimate meaning, is free from all elaboration," etc., one should meditate on oneself and the deity as being without inherent existence. The first is the deity of ultimate meaning. This is the same as the key point of reciting " स्वाभाव (svabhāva)" etc. from other tantras and contemplating its meaning. Rising from that, one should contemplate the form of the sound of the mantra of the deity being meditated upon resounding in the sky, this is the second, the deity of sound. Then, one should contemplate that mantra rotating on top of one's mind, which has become a moon mandala, this is the third, the deity of letters. From that, light radiates out, accomplishing the two purposes, and then gathers back and enters the moon mandala, one should contemplate becoming whatever deity it is, and generate pride, this is the fourth, the deity of form. One binds one's own mudra, recites the mantra, touches the crown of the head, etc., and blesses it, this is the fifth, the deity of mudra. Contemplating the deity that has already been generated, this is the sixth, the deity of signs. As the Buddha Secret says, "Emptiness, letters, sound, form, and, mudra, signs, these six are." This is a substitute for generating the five enlightenments from other tantras, and if abbreviated, it is also acceptable to generate three rituals. Examining and contemplating the generated deity and dwelling on the generated deity is contemplation. Moreover, when doing dwelling contemplation, one should restrain the life force and effort. Here, life force refers to the air entering from the sensory orifices, and effort refers to the mindfulness that does not stray from the object of focus. Restraining those two, one focuses single-pointedly on the object of focus. At this time, it is said that when doing the approach retreat of self-generation, all the deities are acceptable, or it is also acceptable to practice only the main deity. Regarding this, there are two ways, contemplating or not contemplating the palace.

Etc., is it because the secrets of the Buddha and the two supreme Bodhisattvas did not explain these? Or it can also be like other teachers explaining the entry of the wise ones. The second part has two points: generating the support and inviting the deity to reside, etc. The first point is: In the direction where images, etc., are arranged in front of oneself, one should think of spreading a ground of golden sand, etc., and then contemplate the palace. The second point is that although there is a method of generating the deity there, according to what is stated in the Tantra sequence, without generating the deity, one should hold the offerings, make mudras, and invite with "faith and samaya," etc., and contemplate residing in the palace. Then, one should make offerings and praises, etc., as described, and bless the rosary with bodhi seeds, etc., and recite whatever mantra it is. The second part has two points: recitation focused on letters and recitation focused on sound. The first part has two points: focusing on the heart of the deity in front and focusing on the letters in one's own heart. The first point is, as stated in the Later Contemplation, "Focus on sound, mind, and basis," there are four branches of recitation: contemplating oneself as the deity is the basis of the self, contemplating the deity in front is the basis of the front, contemplating one's own mind as the moon in the heart of the deity in front is focusing on the mind, and arranging the mantra garland there is the basis of focusing on the sound. As before, while contemplating oneself as the deity, restrain the life force and, through the gate of having all four branches, focus on the letter moon in the heart of the deity in front and on all three bodies at the same time, and recite. When exhaling, one should look at oneself contemplated as the deity, which is focusing on the letter in front. The second point is, as stated in the same text, "Unchanging and endowed with letters, from basis to basis, likewise," etc. As it is said, that moon arranging the mantra garland in the heart of the deity in front, when inhaling, moves into one's own heart and recites, and when exhaling, one contemplates residing in the heart of the deity, and again, as before, inflates in one's own heart and recites, which is focusing on the letters in one's own heart. The second point is, as explained in the same text, "Having summoned by gathering again," etc. As it is said, in the state of the four branches, focusing on the tone of the mantra, with the mind focusing on the appearance of its sound.
