This is about silent recitation. In the initial stage, focus on the deity, the moon, and the mantra; in the intermediate stage, focus only on the moon and the mantra; and in the final stage, focus only on the sound. Regarding how to recite, as stated in the "Inquiry of Sagacious Arm": When reciting, do not be too fast or too slow, the sound should not be too loud or too soft, do not be like speaking, and do not be inattentive. Do not err by omitting curves, additions, head marks, and dots. Act accordingly, and other recitations are similar. During the approach retreat, the number of recitations is: For mantras with fewer than fifteen letters, generally, however many letters there are, recite that many hundred thousands of times. For mantras with thirty-two letters, it is said to recite three hundred thousand times. For mantras with more letters, first recite ten thousand times. As it is said, recite only the main deity's mantra. Secondly, as previously described, offer the roots of virtue, and perform offerings, praises, invitations, and supplications, etc. Secondly, there are three types of meditation that do not rely on recitation: fire-place meditation, sound-place meditation, and sound-end meditation. The first is: Visualize a burning butter lamp flame in the heart of the deity you are visualizing yourself as, and then visualize your own mind appearing in the form of the sound of the mantra being recited, as if you were listening to someone else reciting. The second, sound-place, is: Abandon the previous visualization and focus only on the sound of the mantra. This differs from the previous two because it does not focus on the deity's body, the moon, and the flame. The third is: Abandon attachment to the sound and single-mindedly practice it. Meditate on the emptiness of inherent existence of oneself, the deity, and all phenomena, and therefore it is said that in order to attain liberation. These are from the "Later Meditation": Secret mantra fire-place grants accomplishment, sound-place grants yoga, remember, sound-end grants liberation itself, these are the three. And also, the word "sound" is connected to the rosary, etc. Fourth, how to accomplish siddhis is not explained here. Detailed information on these methods can be found in the "Mantra Sequence," but here, for fear of prolixity, the main points are briefly stated. Secondly, the stages of the conduct tantra path are four: the path.

To make oneself a suitable vessel for meditation, to purify vows and so on, and how to perform the preliminary recitation, the order of accomplishing siddhis. The first two should be understood elsewhere, and the third has two aspects: yoga with signs and yoga without signs. The first has two aspects: the recitation of the four outer limbs and the four inner limbs. The first is that the main deity of the Action Tantra is Vairocana Manifest Enlightenment, so here it should be done as explained there. The tantra of Vajrapani empowerment is also an Action Tantra. The way to practice is to first protect oneself and the place, and then meditate on emptiness. From within emptiness, from among the four limbs, first perform the limb of the basis of deity generation, that is, contemplate one's own mind becoming the moon, and on top of the moon, contemplate the letter ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Devanagari: अं, Romanized Sanskrit: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ang). From that, generate Vairocana, with one face and four arms, and it is also necessary to bless with mantras and mudras. The second basis is to contemplate a Tathagata similar to oneself in front of oneself. Then, make a moon in its heart, and then place a garland of mantras there, these are the four limbs of recitation. Then, the method of reciting while focusing on the letter is as in the case of the Action Tantra. The second is that from within emptiness, from any of the four: ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A), ཨཱ་ (Tibetan: ཨཱ་, Devanagari: आ, Romanized Sanskrit: ā, Literal Chinese meaning: Ah), ཨཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨཾ་, Devanagari: अं, Romanized Sanskrit: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ang), ཨཿ (Tibetan: ཨཿ, Devanagari: अः, Romanized Sanskrit: aḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ah), generate the deity as before, this is the first basis, the basis of self-generation. In its heart, contemplate a very pure, upright moon mandala, and contemplate the previous Vairocana as if residing in that moon mandala, this is the second basis, the basis of other-generation. Contemplating the moon in its heart is focusing on the mind, and contemplating the mantra residing on it is focusing on sound. Focusing on this, recite one hundred thousand times. For this, both recitations should be done, and during mental recitation, it is also necessary to gather the life force. Focus on the deity's form and meditate until achieving calm abiding, and make offerings and dedications. The second is yoga without signs, that is, focusing on the deity's form and so on, meditate on emptiness without inherent existence. One should learn both the profound and vast ways. In general, just meditating on emptiness is also present in the Sutra tradition, but here, because one first contemplates the deity's mandala and then practices, there is a difference. The fourth is: substance, mantra, samadhi
