In the Garland it says: "Just as in the Hearer Vehicle, the eight grounds of hearers are explained, similarly in the Great Vehicle, there are the ten grounds of Bodhisattvas." Or in the Seventy Stanzas on Refuge it says: "Just as the Exhaustion of Knowledge of an Arhat, is preceded by seven grounds, similarly the Wisdom of a Perfect Buddha, is preceded by ten grounds." Therefore, just as Hearers have eight grounds, namely the Ground of Seeing White, the Ground of Lineage, the Eighth Ground, the Ground of Seeing, the Ground of Thinness, the Ground of Freedom from Desire, the Ground of Accomplishment, and the Ground of Solitary Buddhas, similarly in the Great Vehicle, each of the ten grounds, such as the Extremely Joyful Ground, is primarily associated with one of the ten perfections, while others are practiced in a secondary manner for purification. That is the main ground, and the secondary is: "By abiding in the ground of faith." Just as there is a ground of faith on the path of accumulation, "Attaining the ground is through aspiration." Just as there is also a ground of aspiration and conduct below the path of preparation. Furthermore, in the Bodhisattva Grounds, there is also the explanation of seven grounds, namely the Ground of Lineage, the Ground of Conduct through Aspiration, the Ground of Pure Superior Intention, the Ground of Certainty, the Ground of Practice, the Ground of Certain Practice, and the Ground of Ultimate Going.

In order to ripen the disciples of Maka, it explains the countless methods of ripening disciples, namely the four practices that ripen all sentient beings, as explained in the Sutra of the Jewel in the Crown. Also, in the Bodhisattva-bhumi, it says: With these four practices of a Bodhisattva, one should understand that all the practices of a Bodhisattva are included.

I wish to have feasts, to have the one and only path, and to have the Dharmakaya, that is, to have these friends. Regarding the commentary on the Ornament for Clear Realization, as well as the pure and complete and Maitreya's intention, enumerate the eighty inexhaustible perfections one by one, then enumerate the other categories one by one, and combine them in order. Such twenty-two bodhicittas summarize the path and fruit of the Mahayana. Many, such as the teacher Simhabhadra and Abhayakara, hold this view, while some hold that it summarizes the path of learning. Eighth, dividing into four yogas: the yoga of complete manifestation, the yoga of the peak, the yoga of gradualness, and the yoga of an instant. The Root Text says, "The essence is the four yogas." Alternatively, the practice of accumulation, the practice of entering, the practice of gathering, and the practice of renunciation, these are the four practices. Ninth, according to the common vehicle, the path is divided into four: the path of accumulation, the path of preparation, the path of seeing, and the path of meditation. The path of completion is excluded because it is the fruit. The paths of accumulation and preparation are merely practicing with faith and understanding, because they do not directly see reality, so they are stages of practicing with faith and understanding. The path of seeing and the supramundane path of meditation directly see reality, so they are direct realizations. The first two are contaminated mundane wisdom, so they are not the actual truth of the path. Then, in the Compendium, what is the truth of the path? It is the collection of all the paths of accumulation, the paths of preparation, and the paths of purification, which is called the truth of the path. If someone asks, the Compendium also says that the five paths are the truth of the path, is there a problem? There is no problem, this refers to the retinue of the truth of the path, or what is in accordance with the truth of the path. In the commentary on the Compendium, it says, "The so-called five paths refer to the five different classifications. This different classification should also be understood as the situation of the truth of the path and its retinue." Therefore, it is explained as the retinue of the truth of the path. In the Compendium, it also says, "Which mundane dharmas can destroy the arising of samsara, and do not tend towards samsara, and can generate the supramundane path? Why are these included in the truth of the origin? Because these are essentially the arising of samsara.
