Or, fearing litigation, or fearing floods, or for the sake of survival, or for the sake of gain and respect, or for the sake of flattery and partiality, generating the mind of enlightenment with an unfair mind without examination and without complete investigation, and generating the mind of enlightenment in accordance with such things, it should be known that these are impure. Completely pure should be understood from the opposite of that. The weak is like this: here, some Bodhisattvas, after generating the mind of enlightenment, are overwhelmed by the entanglements of desire, hatred, and ignorance, and having completely deteriorated from the true practice, they are completely associated with the wrong practice. The powerful should be understood from the opposite of that. The unfulfilled fruit is from the stage of practice by faith up to the tenth stage. The completely accomplished fruit is from the stage of the Tathagata, as the Bhagavan said: 'I am liberated from the practice of asceticism, and I have also obtained my own true aspiration and supreme enlightenment.' It is said as it is said.

When the potter's son became Manifest Light, he offered a Khampa vase, five conch shells, a pair of shoes, and an umbrella to the great Tathagata Shakyamuni, and made the aspiration: 'Tathagata, whatever your form, retinue, measure of life, pure realm, and excellent supreme marks are, may I also become just like that.' Thus, he made the aspiration and generated the mind of enlightenment.

Furthermore, it is said in the Compendium of Trainings, "The king is born from the accumulation of wisdom." And in the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning, "May I attain the two supreme qualities that arise from merit and wisdom." This is explained from the perspective of the primary cause, but in a general sense, both are the result of both accumulations. Seventh, the object of the accumulation of merit is the conventional truth, or all phenomena as they appear; the object of the accumulation of wisdom is the ultimate truth, or suchness. Eighth, there are about twelve divisions. First, according to the Mahayana tradition, there are two: skillful means and wisdom. Wisdom is the cutting of grasping at characteristics, and skillful means is the accumulation of roots of virtue. As it says in the Gaya Gori Sutra, "Skillful means is knowing how to accumulate, and wisdom is knowing how to discriminate." That is, wisdom focuses on and realizes emptiness, while skillful means, through compassion, benefits sentient beings. Therefore, it is said to be the essence of emptiness and compassion. Second, the six perfections encompass all virtuous qualities and completely fulfill the qualities of Buddhahood. As it says, "All white qualities are scattered, whether in equipoise or not, both should be known. The two pairs of perfections, these two completely encompass everything." And, "Not delighting in enjoyment and great respect, not being weary of the two, and yoga without conceptualization, all of the Great Vehicle is exhausted here." This shows that all of the Great Vehicle is contained within the six perfections. So, do the Hearers and Solitary Realizers not have the six perfections? No, they do not. In the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it says, "For those like rhinoceros horns, there is not even the name of the six perfections. The Bhagavan alone dwells in the perfection, abiding in the totality of the six perfections." So, are the practices of the bodhisattvas, such as the six perfections, also taught in the Hearers' Vinaya, making it clear? The answer is that it is only mentioned slightly; how could it be said to be completely fulfilled? As it says in the Jewel Garland, "In the Hearers' Vehicle, the aspirations and conduct of the bodhisattvas, and the complete dedication of merit, are not taught. How could one become a bodhisattva?" And in the Ornament of the Sutras, it also says, "Because of incompleteness, contradiction, and not teaching in such a way that it is skillful, this Hearers' Vehicle is not called the Dharma of the Great Vehicle." Third, the division from the perspective of the grounds, as in the Jewel
