Introducing Śamatha directly as Madhyamaka: To briefly state Mañjuśrī's own view, it is said in "Vimalaprabhā": "Neither existent nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent, nor is it the nature of both. Liberation is from the absence of extremes, this is known by the Madhyamaka." This means: When the Ālaya-jñāna Mahāmudrā, the Great Madhyamaka, the Mahāyāna, the profound Prajñāpāramitā, the Tathāgatagarbha, are manifested by practicing the six-limbed yoga with the binding action, it is the Madhyamaka that is free from all extremes of elaboration. Moreover, this is the completely pure mind that transcends the two extremes of permanence and annihilation, it is the profound, peaceful, free from elaboration, luminous, uncompounded. As it is said in the root tantra of the Kālacakra: "Transcending existence and non-existence, non-duality, existence and non-existence are exhausted. Emptiness and compassion are inseparable, Vajra Yoga is great bliss. Transcending the nature of subtle particles, abandoning the Dharma of emptiness. Liberated from permanence and annihilation, Vajra Yoga is without lineage." This explains that the Madhyamaka, which is free from all extremes, is the Vajra Yoga great bliss, the ultimate truth alone. All extremes and elaborations are merely conventional truth. The two extremes are: the extreme of existence and non-existence, the extreme of things and non-things, the extreme of emptiness and non-emptiness, and the two extremes of permanence and annihilation, and so on. The four extremes are: the extreme of existence, the extreme of non-existence, the extreme of both existence and non-existence, and the extreme of neither existence nor non-existence. The eight extremes are: the extreme of cessation, the extreme of arising, the extreme of annihilation, the extreme of permanence, the extreme of coming, the extreme of going, the extreme of different meanings, and the extreme of one meaning. The eight worldly dharmas are also the eight extremes. In short, the fluctuations of the Ālaya-vijñāna, the terms of speculation, the joys and sorrows of discrimination, the ocean of saṃsāra, all the dualities of conventional truth become the object of faults, and are only extremes and elaborations. The ultimate truth that is free from these, the Ālaya-jñāna Mahāmudrā, the Mahāyāna, the Tathāgatagarbha, the Mahāparinirvāṇa, the profound Prajñāpāramitā, the ultimate Bodhicitta Dharmadhātu, the play of the four bodies and five wisdoms, all are the object of the faultless Madhyamaka, the true extreme of the faultless Madhyamaka, the faultless

It is only the complete joy and perfection of Uma. In "Vimalaprabha," it says: The eternal entity, the annihilated entity, the non-existent entity, that in which these do not exist is Vajradhara, that is, the completely pure mind. This is its meaning. And, the Bhagavan, the nature of the completely pure mind, is neither existent, nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent, nor neither of the two, the sole teacher of the realm is. And, the noble Nagarjuna said: Not known from others, it is peaceful, all elaborations are unelaborated, not one meaning, nor different meanings, that is its very nature. And, according to the meaning, in "Vimalaprabha," it says: Not impermanent, nor permanent, not one, nor the nature of many, not real, nor unreal, this is the Dharmakaya free from support. And, not existent, not non-existent, not both existent and non-existent, nor the nature of both, liberated from the four extremes, I prostrate to the body of great bliss. Similarly, in the "Mūlamadhyamakakārikā," it says: By whatever that arises dependently, without cessation, without arising, without annihilation, without permanence, without coming, without going, not different meaning, not one meaning, the pacification of elaboration, the peaceful one, to that excellent one of those who speak of the complete Buddhas, I prostrate. Its meaning is: The supreme or excellent one of the proponents of various tenets, the Buddha, by whatever pacifies the eight elaborations to be refuted, the Dharmadhatu Madhyamaka where the basis to be refuted is pacified. Thus, in "Vimalaprabha," it says: Thereafter, the bindu, emptiness, unchanging six. This refers to the Dharma that serves as the basis for this, the nature of the Buddha's form body, pervading all three realms and three times. The six aggregates of this cessation, and the sixteen of the three realms, and the thirty-seven of the transforming wisdom. These whose nature is without obscuration are called Dharmakaya Dharmadhatu. The four vajras are the unchanging five, the Nirmanakaya of these manifests various miracles. The voice of the Dharma speaker is perfect enjoyment. Therefore, though one and many, or one or non-one, equal and unequal, etc., is the tenet of the Madhyamaka school.
