The five roots. The five elements. The five senses, etc., are the five wisdoms. Moreover, dividing them by skillful means and wisdom, there are ten wisdoms, etc., and the divisions of wisdom are endless. In the Sutra of the Buddha Land, the Bhagavan addressed the Bodhisattva Extremely Good, saying: Extremely Good, the five dharmas condense the Buddha Land. What are the five? They are: the purity of the Dharmadhatu, the wisdom like a mirror, the wisdom of equality, the wisdom of discernment, and the wisdom of accomplishing activities. Thus it is. From the five faces of the Noble Vajra Essence, it is said: The mirror-like wisdom and the wisdom of equality, the third is the wisdom of discernment, and another is the accomplishing activity. The Dharmadhatu essence is pure. Form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. Earth, water, fire, and wind, and the fifth is emptiness. These five wisdoms are completely pure, the five manifestations of enlightenment, possessing the nature of ten pure wisdoms, are the holders of ten pure wisdoms. Thus it is said. These five Alaya wisdoms are the definitive meaning of all Sutras and Tantras. These five alone are taught in the Manjushri Namasamgiti. Not knowing the Kalachakra means not knowing the meaning of the Namasamgiti, and so on. In the Vimalaprabha, it says: Whoever makes the true name, which makes beings free from doubt, the measure, thereafter, the Bhagavan correctly taught Vajrapani the definitive meaning of all the principles of mantra, the true name, through the mantra vehicle. Therefore, whoever does not know the supreme primordial Buddha does not know the true name. Whoever does not know the true name does not know the wisdom body of Vajradhara. Whoever does not know the wisdom body of Vajradhara does not know the mantra vehicle. Whoever does not know the mantra vehicle is entirely a samsaric being, separated from the path of the Bhagavan Vajradhara. Therefore, the supreme and excellent gurus of the supreme primordial Buddha should teach, and the excellent disciples who seek liberation should listen. Thus it is said. Among these categories of teachings of the Shravaka vehicle, the Paramita vehicle, and the principle of mantra, the unchanging essence is the Bhagavan Vajra.

Vajradhara is what the Tathagata declared in the "Tathata Samgraha Sutra." Those who do not understand this meaning are not true lamas; those who have degenerated from the supreme, immutable wisdom will appear in the future. Those who have completely degenerated will cause sentient beings to degenerate. Similarly, in the "Tathata Samgraha Sutra," the immutable wisdom of the Bhagavan Vajradhara, the essence of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, is well declared by the Tathagata with six hundred and sixty-two verses of supplication. Among them, from "Then, the glorious Vajradhara" and so on, to the end of "Bowing the body, present before," are sixteen verses of supplication. From "Bhagavan Shakyamuni" and so on, to the end of "Bhagavan said, 'Well done,'" are six verses of reply. Again, from "Then, Bhagavan" and so on, to the end of "Greatly beholding the great family crest," are two verses observing the six realms. From "The king of secret mantras, possessing six" and so on, to the end of "ཨ་ར་པ་ཙ་ན་ཡ་ཏེ་ན་མ། (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, Literal meaning)" are three verses on achieving complete enlightenment through the net of illusion. Thus, from "Thus, the Buddha, the Bhagavan" and so on, to the end of "The supreme of the Mahayana path," are four verses praising the great mandala of the Vajra realm. From "Buddha, great illuminator" and so on, to the end of "Great vajra hook and rope," are twenty-five verses (missing one word) praising the wisdom of the utterly pure realm of Dharma. From "Vajra Terrifier, causing terror" and so on, to the end of "The best of those with sound," are ten verses (one word extra) praising mirror-like wisdom. From "Truly selfless, suchness itself" and so on, to the end of "Wisdom without stain, light extremely clear," are forty-two verses praising individual self-realization wisdom. The supreme attainment of desired meaning

From "Thus" and so on, ending with "Great Jewel Precious Top," is the praise of the Wisdom of Equality, with twenty-four verses. From "What all Buddhas realize" and so on, ending with "Manjushri, the most auspicious," is the praise of the Wisdom of Accomplishing Activities, with fifteen verses. From "Supreme Giver, Supreme Vajra, I prostrate to you" and so on, ending with "Wisdom Body, I prostrate to you," is the praise of the Wisdom of the Five Tathagatas, with five verses. In total, these one hundred and sixty-two verses arise from these vehicles and are the essence of the Bhagavan Vajradhara, Samantabhadra, the most excellent, the supreme unchanging great bliss, the ultimate expanse of the realm of space, the all-illuminating, the accumulation of pure wisdom, possessing a profound and vast form, self-luminous and luminous to others, the beginningless and endless self, and the defilements of conceptual thoughts such as the grasped and the grasper of the self are removed, all times, without all afflictions, knowing the nature of all dharmas, liberated from the habitual tendencies of samsara, free from going and coming, the nature of non-elaboration, the spontaneously arising and increasing samadhi, and the support of various dharanis, like a virtuous vase, a wish-fulfilling tree, and a wish-fulfilling jewel, completely fulfilling the wishes of all sentient beings, not the object of practice even for the great sages, the great mass of sentient beings, supremely pacified, like an illusion, like a dream, like an image, like a melodious sound, truly gathered, to be offered by the three realms, the self-realized wisdom of yogis, this supreme unchanging bliss, should not be abandoned by yogis. This is the definitive understanding of the Tathagata. Thus spoke the Protector, Avalokiteshvara. Therefore, the ultimate essence of all sutras and tantras, the five Alaya wisdoms, in this praise of names, the six crown families and the net of illusion, and the great mandala of the Vajra Realm.
