I. From the Sutra of Perfect Purity of Mind, Manjushri asked: How is the experience of a Bhikshu yogi meditating on Samadhi best? The reply: Just as when the fire in a stove is extinguished, the smoke from the window ceases, so too, if one knows the mind and consciousness to be empty, the experience of the emptiness of forms, the emptiness of sounds, the emptiness of smells, the emptiness of tastes, and the emptiness of tactile sensations arises. If the sky is without clouds, it is clear. If the water is not turbid, it is clear. If the mind is not contrived, it is blissful. Therefore, it is said: The yogi who knows the nature of the mind, whatever he does, abides in the state of meditation, abiding in the original meaning. This is explained as the experience of Samadhi. Thus it is said. The arising of the Dharmadhatu wisdom ground, etc., the faculties such as the eye, the consciousnesses such as eye consciousness, and all objects such as forms, although they are the arising of the ultimate Dharmadhatu and the eighteen elements, they are not the arising of conventional agreed-upon truths and the eighteen elements. The characteristic of the conventional ground is hardness, etc., and the characteristic of the eye is not seeing conventional forms, etc. Thus, the characteristics of the eighteen conventional elements are not. In the Sutra Spoken by the Noble Incomparable Wisdom: Although the Dharmadhatu is the earth element, the Dharmadhatu is not the characteristic of hardness. Although the Dharmadhatu is the water element, the Dharmadhatu is not the characteristic of moisture. Although the Dharmadhatu is the fire element, the Dharmadhatu is not the characteristic of ripening. Although the Dharmadhatu is the wind element, the Dharmadhatu is not the characteristic of movement. Although the Dharmadhatu is the eye element, the Dharmadhatu is not the characteristic of seeing. Although the Dharmadhatu is the elements of ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, and eye consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness, the Dharmadhatu is not hearing and smelling, tasting and touching, distinguishing and distinguishing forms, distinguishing sounds, distinguishing smells, distinguishing tastes, and touc

It is not merely the characteristic of consciousness and merely the consciousness of phenomena. Although the realm of phenomena is the realm of form, and the realms of sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena, it is not the characteristic of being cognized by eye consciousness, and ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind consciousness. Similarly, although it is the ground of ultimate truth, it is not the ground of conventional truth because it lacks the characteristic of solidity of the conventional ground. Similarly, although it is the ultimate truth of water, fire, and wind, it is not the conventional water, fire, and wind because it lacks the characteristics of moisture, burning, and movement of conventional water, fire, and wind. Similarly, the eighteen realms, including the senses and objects, are the wisdom of the ultimate truth of the realm of phenomena, but because the eighteen realms including the senses and objects of conventional truth lack the characteristic of substance, they are not the eighteen realms including the senses and objects of conventional truth. As the Glorious Tantra says: The nature of earth is not solid, and the melted body of water is not liquid, because it is not moist. The nature of fire is not fire, and the moving body of wind is not wind, because whatever does not move is not wind. Although it is the nature of emptiness, the white and green objects to be seen and the great variety of colors are not colors. Although it possesses all aspects, it is not seen, because of the power of the defilements, afflictions, and demons of one's own heart. And its explanation, "Immaculate Light," says: Now, the nature of form is explained by "earth" and so on. Here, because it appears as emptiness, it is without substance, and the appearance of earth that is seen is not solid. The appearance of melted water is like the water of a mirage, and it is not water because it lacks moisture. Similarly, the nature of fire is not. The moving body of wind is without substance, so whatever does not move is not wind. Because it is without substance, although it is the nature of emptiness, it is still seen. Like a city of illusions, although it has colors such as white, it is not color because it is without substance. Although it possesses all aspects, it is not seen by children at all times. Why is that? It is because of the power of the afflictive demons. It is because life flows through the left and right channels. This is certain.
