Not seeing one's own mind as Buddha is an obscuration. All sentient beings in the six realms, good and non-good, exist in an unstated state. Due to ignorance, the non-virtuous actions of the five poisons of affliction are the obscuration of maturation. The antidote to this is to hold virtuous conduct as a sign. Attachment to qualities is the obscuration of knowledge. Afflictions and the obscuration of afflictions, all sentient beings in the six realms, due to the power of ignorance, afflictions, and non-virtuous actions, have wandered in the ocean of samsara since beginningless time. Due to the power of non-virtue, they are covered by the obscuration of afflictions. By practicing the paths, obscurations are purified. Those who initially enter the Dharma, in the darkness of suffering in the six realms of samsara, like the sun rising in the midst of darkness, the rays of the Buddha's teachings arise, eliminating all collections of obscurations. Those who enter the Dharma taught by the lama, first meditate on Mahamudra, and when the first one-pointed samadhi arises, just as a lamp dispels darkness, the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arises, eliminating the thicket of afflictive thoughts. When the second one-pointed samadhi arises, the subtle of the subtle afflictions are overcome, just as the dawn rises and dispels darkness, by meditating without the distinction of object and subject, the attachment to holding objects as real is eliminated. When the third one-pointed samadhi arises, by meditating on samsara and nirvana as emptiness of one's own mind, just as the day breaks and clears away darkness, the attachment to holding the subject as permanent is eliminated. Just as the rising sun dispels all darkness, when the first realization of freedom from elaboration arises, the darkness of the two obscurations and so on is dispelled. When the mandala of the sun of the Buddha arises, the suffering of the six realms of samsara is eliminated. With the samadhi of the arising of the second freedom from elaboration, afflictive obscurations and obscurations of knowledge, etc., are gradually purified in the stages of the path, and qualities arise. From the third until no-meditation, afflictions and the obscurations of afflictions, the small ones are purified first, and the large ones later. Wisdom and the obscuration of knowledge, the large ones are purified first, and the small ones later. The wisdom of the alaya is obscured by afflictions themselves. The five poisonous afflictions and the three poisons are what are to be purified, and are wisdom.

Initially, the three kayas are the qualities of Dharma. When afflictions are purified, they become the three wisdom kayas. Apart from these, there is no attainment through wrong paths. Anger, pride, desire, jealousy, and ignorance, etc., all afflictive obscurations, all dharmas are empty of self in their own way. Afflictive obscurations are pacified by themselves. Afflictive obscurations accumulated since beginningless time, all karmas and habitual tendencies arise and ripen. All ignorance, wrong views, doubt, and hesitation, are immediately pacified by practicing the paths. The demon of afflictions and the bonds of afflictive thoughts are severed. By realizing all dharmas as one's own mind, the object of meditation, the act of meditation, the meditator, and the means of meditation, with the wisdom of the three circles being completely pure, the great obscuration of knowledge is eliminated. For the individual who has generated a single taste of meditation, the ways in which qualities arise and obscurations are abandoned, although explained in detail in the chapter on the path, the intermediate degree of both afflictions and knowledge is eliminated. The way in which the sequence of qualities arises is explained in detail in the chapter on the path above. From the ignorance of complete imputation downwards, all gross and subtle afflictive obscurations, and all dualistic appearances and habitual tendencies upwards are eliminated. The gross aspect of the minor obscuration of knowledge is eliminated. For the individual who is the basis for the arising of non-meditation, the way in which qualities arise is explained in the chapter on the path. Great afflictions and minor knowledge, through realizing the non-dual wisdom of one's own mind, there is no separate attainment apart from meditation, with the wisdom in which everything appears as meditation, the co-emergent ignorance, the alaya, and the great obscuration of the root afflictions are eliminated. The way in which its afflictive obscurations are eliminated is, by realizing one's own mind as the Dharmakaya, ignorance is eliminated. The alaya is naturally completely pure, severing the root of the arising of afflictive obscurations. All the root obscurations of its afflictions are eliminated. The subtle of the subtle obscuration of knowledge, although it is not the habitual tendency of dualistic grasping and dualistic appearance, the minor obscuration left by it is the appearance of the body and wisdom as different. The five families are of one taste, the sixth is Vajradhara, the five wisdoms and the Dharmakaya are of one taste, the five kayas are inseparable and become one, at the time of attaining the omniscient wisdom, relying on the consort of the obscuration of knowledge, the guru is the essence of the Sugatas of the three times, ultimately.
