See well what it looks like! Are the one who places and the mind to be placed one or two? If two, then there must be two minds. If one becomes a Buddha, the other must wander in samsara. Look well and decide for sure if there are two. If there is not more than one, then, is that one the mind? Look at what that which is called 'mind' actually looks like. It is impossible to find it by searching in external objects. Also, look at that awareness that thinks, 'What is that mind like?' Look at itself and search! Look closely at the awareness of the meditator and search! In reality, see if that which is called 'mind' exists. If it exists, it must have a shape. What shape is it? Look closely and search! Is it round? Is it square? Is it crescent-shaped? What shape is it, like a triangle, etc.? Look well! Look decisively! If you say it exists no matter what, show me that shape! If you say it cannot be shown, can there be a shape that cannot be shown and is still a thing? Thus, introduce emptiness through shape. Similarly, investigate and inquire about the color, size, and direction. If you say that none of these exist, then search to see if there is an emptiness that has nothing. If you say there is an emptiness that has nothing, then how does an emptiness that has nothing know how to meditate? What is there to say that you have not found it? If there is nothing, then who is it that generates hatred? Isn't there someone who thinks, 'I have not found the mind'? Look closely at that one! What does it look like? If you have not found it, is the awareness that thinks, 'Where is it?' the mind? Look well! If it is, what does it look like? If it exists, it must have substance and color, can you take it? If not, it is like an unconscious corpse, isn't there someone who remembers? Therefore, look well and decide what it is like in the boundary between existence and non-existence! Thus, guide straight. Through the difference of intelligence, some say that they have not found anything in the boundary between existence and non-existence. Look well at that mind that thinks, 'I have not found it!' Is there something flickering? Is there something clear? Is there something empty and hollow? Look! If you say there is something dull, that is calm abiding, that will not do! Thoroughly investigate awareness and grasp its essence!

Come on. If it is said that there is an emptiness, because it is the same direction, let them go to seek awareness. There is an awareness that is like flickering and like being clear, if it is said that it cannot be spoken, having a little understanding, it should be determined and introduced. The Dharma session can be held for one day or whatever is appropriate. Now is the time to introduce awareness: all the students, with the seven features of Vairochana, sit in front, and let them adjust their posture. Now, all of you, place awareness in the sky in front, staring without fabrication, flickering without distraction, and being clear without clinging. Let it remain in this state. When it is kept like that, due to the difference in intelligence, some will experience the nakedness of non-thought, and the meaning of non-elaboration will arise in the continuum. Some will experience flickering on top of awareness, some will experience emptiness that is not mind and is not empty, the self-radiance of emptiness flickering, this seems to be awareness itself, it seems to be the essence of mind. Such thoughts will arise. Some will experience a clear and flickering experience, some will experience an empty and hollow experience, some will experience appearance and mind mixed, appearance not remaining outside, awareness not remaining inside, but an experience of being inseparably mixed. Such experiences and appearances, each one will inevitably arise. At that time, the lama will introduce it like this: Oh, like this, when the mind is left uncorrected and naturally abiding, look at this awareness. All of your minds, when thoughts subside in their own place, and abide naturally in an uncorrected state, isn't there a natural abiding state? Oh, this is called quiescence, but it is not the essence of mind. Now, look at the essence of the one who abides in your mind itself, isn't there an emptiness without anything, shape, or color, a hollow natural state? This is called essence emptiness. The radiance of emptiness has not stopped, but is it like being clear, like being bright, like being obviously clear? This is called self-nature clarity. The essence is without anything, the empty clarity, and its radiance has not stopped, the clarity, these two without distinction, like flickering, like clear awareness, there is something that exists, but the awareness that cannot be directly described in words, this flickering thing now, is named awareness. Because it is the thinker itself, it is also called mind.
