Therefore, what is explained is explained in two ways; what arises arises in nine vehicles; what is gathered is gathered in the Great Perfection; what is, is the mind of enlightenment; what abides abides in the realm of Dharma; what is clear is clear in the sky of awareness; what pervades pervades all containers and contents; what arises arises in all appearances; where it is explained, there is no object of characteristics; in the expanse, it is free from the object of focus; in knowledge, it is inexpressible in words; it does not arise from causes, it has no essence; it is free from all elaborations. If you want to definitely realize that meaning, contemplate it like the sky; the meaning is that the nature of Dharma is without birth; the sign is that the nature of mind is without cessation. On the nature of Dharma like the sky, illustrate with the example of the sky; on the nature of Dharma without focus, illustrate and explain with no focus; on what cannot be expressed in words, speak inexpressible words, and show the essence of the meaning without focus. If you do not realize the definitive meaning of this, no matter what words of meaning are explained, you will not meet me, because you have strayed from me and I am obscured, so you will not obtain the nature of Dharma. Thus it is said. Furthermore, this very nature of the mind of enlightenment is the essence of all Dharmas without exception; because it is unborn and completely pure, there is no obscuration; because it is free from the path of practice, there is no straying; because it is spontaneously accomplished from the beginning, there is no need to seek it. Thus, and so on, it is extensively taught. Also, in the fourth chapter of the "Diamond Arrangement, All-Gathering Awareness Sutra": Because there is no other in the meaning of Dharma-nature, self-born wisdom is clear. The wish-fulfilling jewel, the precious jewel, is not to be sought, it is within oneself. Thus it is said. Also, from the "All-Creating King": Self-born wisdom is called action, self-born, arising without cause or condition, wisdom is clear without cessation. Thus it is said. That essence without cause or condition, completely dominates and controls everything. Thus it is said. All Dharmas are me, if you know my nature, then the nature of all Dharmas will be known. Thus it is said. I am the teacher, the all-creating mind of enlightenment; the mind of enlightenment is the all-creating king; the Buddhas of the three times are made by the mind of enlightenment; the sentient beings of the three realms are made by the mind of enlightenment; the appearances and existence, the containers and contents, are made by the mind of enlightenment. Thus and so on, all that is extensively taught in many sutras and tantras, is the present

This alone is what is called the clear and empty, shimmering awareness. If one does not recognize this very nature and it becomes the basis of confusion, it is called ignorance. Sentient beings of the three realms are thus named the root of confusion. If one recognizes this very nature oneself, it is named the basis of liberation of Samantabhadra. When this very nature abides in a state of clear emptiness, unexpressed, it is named the Alaya. Samsara and nirvana, happiness and suffering, the basis of all, there is nothing other than this single awareness of the present. The lama introduces it, the student recognizes his own nature, and with unwavering faith, the Alaya is liberated in its own place. Therefore, the instruction manual for birth and bardo is called "Alaya Self-Liberation." Please understand it in this way. After that, practice calm abiding, this is the first Dharma session introducing the wisdom of insight. Samaya. Instruction Manual for the Bardo of Birth, Alaya Self-Liberation.
