Teachings. Moreover, it is mostly because bad habits are difficult to subdue, so it is very important to subdue them through various methods. Then, the training in breathing is as follows: In the posture of the seven-point posture of Vairochana, straighten the spine, place the hands in the earth-touching mudra, exhale one breath from the right nostril, one from the left, and one from the middle, and exhale three times together, while visualizing that all sins and obscurations are purified, and that sins in the form of horned demons emerge from the nostrils, and that the fire of wisdom blazes in the sky in front, which is to expel the poison of the breath. Then, as you inhale back, swallow a mouthful of saliva, and focus on sending the sins down to the navel, without thinking about anything, and relax. When you can't bear it, exhale. That's one day. Then, the training in the recitation of the three syllables of unborn vajra is as follows: exhale the breath, and the body posture is as before. When inhaling, visualize that the blessings of the body of all the Buddhas of the three times are gathered back in the form of the white syllable OM (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), press the upper breath, draw in the lower breath, and keep it below the navel. Also, between the combination of the upper and lower breaths, the essence of the speech of all the Buddhas of the three times is the nature of the red syllable AH (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), appearing but without inherent existence, clear and empty, relax, and let awareness abide. When you can't bear it, exhale, and the essence of the mind of all the Buddhas of the three times radiates in the form of the blue syllable HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), and visualize that these emanate continuously as manifestations for the benefit of beings. Thus, inhaling is the nature of OM (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), abiding is AH (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), and exhaling is the nature of HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), and hold the mind with unwavering awareness. This can be done at any time, so it is called the recitation of the unborn vajra. By reciting the three syllables of the unborn vajra as many times as there are 21,600 breaths in a day, the benefits are beyond words, so practice it as a daily practice. Do this for about three days, and then practice it regularly. Before that, the practice of shamatha with signs has been completed, and then the training in shamatha without signs is as follows: the body posture is as before, the eyes gaze at the sky, without meditating on anything, the awareness is focused on the sky in front without distraction, concentrate, and when you feel tired, rest, inter

Investigate what kind of awareness is tightening, and what it is. Tighten again, investigate, and alternate. This will eliminate the fault of dullness. In all activities, maintain mindfulness without distraction. This counts as one day. Then, again, maintain the previous body posture, lower the gaze, and relax the mind. Without any object to be meditated upon, relax and let both body and mind relax naturally. There is nothing to meditate on, just remain naturally, clearly, in the natural state, as it is, without any alteration, without distraction. Abide in the natural state, sometimes loosening, and loosening again. Observe who is tightening and loosening at times. If it seems to be the mind, observe what the mind that loosens and tightens is like. Relax again. After that, a good abiding will arise, and realization of awareness may also occur. This also counts as one day. Then, again, as before, sometimes tightly gather the awareness and subtly tighten it without distraction. Sometimes relax and let it expand widely. Tighten again, relax again. In this way, alternate tightening and loosening while meditating. Sometimes look upwards towards the expanse of the sky. Although there is nothing to meditate on with awareness, focus the intention tightly. Relax again. Sometimes focus the gaze tightly on the right side, with awareness undistracted. Sometimes focus on the left side, sometimes focus downwards, alternating these in each session. At times, observe what kind of awareness is focusing the intention. Awareness itself observes itself. Sometimes lower the mind to the center of the heart and rest calmly. Sometimes rest calmly in the expanse as vast as the sky. Sometimes release the mind widely like the sky. In this way, alternating various gazes, as a sign of the mind becoming calm, if awareness rests calmly, naturally, and attentively wherever it is placed, then shamatha has arisen. If one becomes dull without mindfulness, that is the fault of dullness or sinking, so awaken awareness, uplift the spirit, and change the gaze. If there is distraction and agitation, lower the gaze, relaxation is very important. If a dull state arises without "this is meditation, this is thought," that is the fault of excitement, so meditate by alternating tightening and loosening.
