It is said that stretching out in the manner of Parnah, this mandala has great benefits, so the previous holy ones did not fear hardship, and when cleaning the base of the mandala, the inside of their wrists would wear out and become calloused, so they would wipe from behind, or alternate between the left and right hands. It is said that the great Lord Tsongkhapa also had a stone mandala to offer, which can still be seen today, and because it was cleaned so thoroughly, it was like a jewel. The materials for the mandala are: the best is a base of precious jewels such as gold and silver, on which are placed piles of turquoise, coral, etc.; the medium is copper, iron, earth, etc., on which are placed piles of medicine and grains, etc.; the lowest is wood or stone, etc., on which are placed piles of sand, etc., and offering it is also acceptable, knowing contentment, and if the intention is pure, then there is no difference in completing the accumulations. Paltrul Rinpoche also offered a wooden mandala. Also, if things are good, one should not regard them as sources of wealth and enjoyment, thereby generating attachment. The grains, etc., to be piled up should not be hoarded, but after offering the old ones, they should be replaced with new ones. Previously, when Paltrul Rinpoche was teaching the Bodhicharyavatara at Jhumang Monastery, he offered all the gold and jewels inside the mandala, as well as the outer wrappings. Khyentse Yeshe Rigzin offered gold sand in front of the Jowo statue in Lhasa, and as a result, a relic the size of a bird's egg fell from the Jowo's lap, which was later placed inside the stupa of his remains. Rigzin Jigme Lingpa offered a gold mandala in front of the Jowo statue and took the Bodhisattva vows, and as a result, light emanated from the Jowo's brow, and he said that he was the god of wisdom and compassion. Also, Shabkar Tsogdruk Rangdrol scattered thirteen portions of priceless jade, coral, and other jewels on the way to Tsari, which is said to have provided several months' worth of provisions for many people going to circumambulate Tsari. Therefore, all offerings, represented by the mandala, are an antidote to miserliness, so it is necessary to avoid being bound by miserliness and stinginess, as well as arrogance and boasting, and showing off to others. In general, as a renunciate, from the moment one wears the three robes, it is important to train in the virtuous thought of contentment and few desires. If one has contentment and few desires, then it is the best of all offerings.

What is said to be the case. When actually offering the mandala, if conditions permit, set up the mandala for practice on a high platform in front of oneself, and establish the assembly field there; or visualize that all the peaceful and wrathful deities of the mandala reside in the sky in front. The method of offering the mandala is as follows: Hold a small amount of barley and medicine, etc., in the left hand, lift the base of the mandala, and visualize it as the vast and boundless powerful golden ground. Anoint it with fragrant water and moisten it, it is necessary to moisten one's own mind with loving-kindness and bodhicitta. Then, if there is an iron fence, put it on; if not, use the index finger to rotate from the edge of the mandala to the left, and visualize that the rotation around the outer iron fence is equal to the measure of the three thousand great thousand worlds. Place a large pile in the center, and visualize it as Mount Meru, the king of mountains, surrounded by the seven golden mountains and the seven playful seas. Then, arrange the piles in the cardinal directions in order, and visualize the four continents and the eight subcontinents, with shapes that are round, crescent-shaped, and square. That is, the Eastern Videha is made of crystal, the Southern Jambudvipa is made of lapis lazuli, the Western Godaniya is made of padmaraga or coral, and the Northern Kuru is made of gold. Visualize the respective subcontinents in the same way. In the sky above the Eastern Continent, the sun disc is made of fire crystal, measuring one unit. In the sky above the Western Continent, the moon disc is made of water crystal, measuring fifty units. In the south is Rahu, with the head of a makara. In the north is the fire of time, with the head of a jackal. Between the two, visualize the body of Rahu as insubstantial or like crystal. Visualize that those are filled with immeasurable wealth of enjoyment for gods and humans. Offer them to the Three Jewels, the peaceful and wrathful deities of the Buddhas, and their retinues. Then there are the mandalas of the three kayas: First, the nirmanakaya mandala, visualize the four continents, Mount Meru, the sun and moon, etc., as many as hundreds of millions of kotis, arrange seven piles, and offer them to the nirmanakaya deity mandala. Above that is the sambhogakaya mandala, one's own body frame is Mount Meru, the king of mountains, the four limbs are the four continents, and the minor limbs are the eight subcontinents.
