Even as a Bodhisattva, one should regard all sentient beings as mothers and cultivate loving-kindness, because hatred and loving-kindness are contradictory and cannot coexist. Even the merit accumulated over a thousand kalpas can be easily exhausted. Even in Tantra, one should visualize sentient beings as deities and goddesses. If one generates hatred towards them, one cannot meet the Yidam deity. If one can abandon hatred, one can attain the Samadhi of Great Loving-Kindness, and ultimately realize the emptiness of hatred. If one engages in the ten non-virtuous actions dominated by desire, one will be reborn as a hungry ghost, unable to hear the sound of food and drink. Even if one sees food, five hundred people with sticks will guard it, and one will be unable to endure the suffering of hunger and thirst. Even if we are hungry for a day now, we can survive on wild vegetables, so it is very important to abandon desire. Even from the perspective of this life, greed destroys the hopes in one's heart, and nothing can be accomplished. The desires to achieve success, wealth, and fulfillment will not be fulfilled. One will also violate the vows and commitments that must be kept. Even great practitioners, if they do not see the faults of desire, will be seduced by the pleasures of desire, and their minds will not be able to abide within for even a moment. Only when desire is slightly calmed can one attain the Samadhi of the Treasury of Space. If one engages in the ten non-virtuous actions dominated by ignorance, one will be reborn as an animal. In the outer ocean, there are creatures as numerous as mustard seeds, with large mouths devouring small creatures, suffering immeasurable pain and having no moment of happiness. Horses, livestock, and the like are all higher beings in the animal realm, and seem to be happy, but in reality they are constantly subjected to confinement and suffering. Therefore, it is very important to abandon the ten non-virtuous actions dominated by ignorance. If one cannot abandon ignorance, one will cling to the self, thereby distinguishing between self and others, and generating love and hatred. As the scriptures say, 'All faults arise from these two.' Therefore, ignorance is the root of all faults, and it is very important to abandon it. The method for abandoning it is the wisdom of hearing, contemplation, and meditation. Therefore, even when listening, one should listen to the Dharma of the Great Vehicle; even when contemplating, one should contemplate the Dharma of the Great Vehicle; even when meditating, one should meditate on the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. If one engages in hearing, contemplation, and meditation on the Small Vehicle, it is like crossing the ocean in a small boat. If one can abandon ignorance...
