Are there any sentient beings who are born or cease to exist? The answer is: Venerable Subhuti, there are none. Why is that? Because sentient beings are completely pure from the very beginning. Just as it is said therein, "Form, because of its nature being luminosity, is completely pure, without all afflictions. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness, because of their nature being luminosity, are completely pure, without all afflictions. Even up to all-knowingness, because of its nature being luminosity, is completely pure, without all afflictions." And so on, extensively spoken. And, "Because the nature is completely pure, afflictions are exhausted from the beginning." And so on. Therefore, because it transcends the dharma of consciousness and is definitely liberated from all obscurations, the abandonment of self-nature is complete from the beginning in the ultimate dharma nature. Therefore, wherever there is dharma nature, there is also abandonment, because the perfectly established dharma nature itself is naturally completely pure. The second abandonment is the removal of sudden obscurations by means of antidotes that are appropriate to them, that is, the qualities that exist on the ground will not manifest without being cultivated by the path, as mentioned earlier, even if it occurs in the case of sentient beings, it will not become a fault in this tenet, because they do not consider sentient beings to be Buddhas who are free from all obscurations. Similarly, there are two types of realization: the self-born wisdom that is realized from the beginning by the knowledge of the dharma nature itself, and the other-born wisdom that is realized by the power of the path and meditation. The first is: the ultimate dharma nature, the individual knowledge that realizes it, the wisdom of self-born wisdom, is characterized by transcendence of the world. As it is said: "Knowing oneself, knowing others, knowing all, all-knowing, all-seeing, most supreme." As it is said, the two innate abandonments and realizations are complete in their own essence in the ultimate reality. As the venerable Maitreya said: "In this there is nothing to be clarified, nor is there anything to be established. Truly look at the true nature, having truly seen it, one is liberated." As it is said. The second realization is: the lineage of increasing transformation that is realized by the power of the path and meditation, by accumulating the accumulation of wisdom through meditative equipoise, and the accumulation of merit in the subsequent attainment, finally reaching

Manifesting qualities through power is designated as the non-inverted consummation. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Though there is no difference between before and after, it is free from the stains of all obscurations. Suchness is considered the Buddha." Thus it is. Here, the emptiness of conventional reality by its own nature and the emptiness of ultimate reality by otherness are taught in both the middle and final turnings of the wheel of dharma as appropriate. In particular, the way of abiding of the wisdom that is the indivisibility of the profound and clear essence of the Tathagata, the basis of emptiness, is extensively taught in the collections of the final teachings, and that all phenomena are merely appearances of the mind. Some previous teachers, due to necessity, accepted the mind as the ultimate truth, and thus arose what is now known as the Mind-Only school among the four major philosophical schools. However, they did not fully grasp the actual intention, because when it is said that all phenomena are merely appearances of the mind, the mind refers to both the alaya-consciousness and the dharmata-consummation. If considered from the former perspective, since it is the object and subject of delusion, it is conventional truth, and therefore it is impossible to be permanent, so it has never been said to be the ultimate truth. As stated in the Sutra of the Ornament of Wisdom Light: "Sharadvatiputra, what is called mind is the consciousness of mind and intellect, as well as intellect, the body of intellect, the faculty of intellect, and the realm of intellect. This is called mind. What is that emptiness? Sharadvatiputra, mind is empty of mind, and there is no agent in it. If there were an agent, then what is done by it would be experienced by another. Mind also does not manifest mind." And so on. Although it is said that all phenomena are merely appearances of the mind, there is no instance where it is said to be the ultimate truth. Rather, the wisdom that transcends all mind, intellect, and consciousness is taught as the ultimate truth. As stated in the Holy Lankavatara Sutra: "Mind, intellect, consciousness, discrimination, and non-perception, by this one will attain forbearance of the unborn dharma. Great wisdom, to show the dharma that is without appearance and devoid of discrimination, therefore this ultimate truth has no sequence or connection of sequences." And, mind and intellect.
