Having become proficient in everything, he requested instructions from Elephant-given (Glang po byin pa), and was shown how to seek the inexpressible self. Upon examining and searching for it, it contradicted the aspect of existence. During the day, he removed all the light sources, and at night, he lit butter lamps in all four directions. He stripped naked and looked repeatedly inside and out, acting as if he were busy. When his friend saw this, he told the abbot, who asked him the reason. I said that I was dull-witted and inferior, and I had not seen what the abbot had shown me. I thought that it was obscured by obscurations71༄༅། །, so I was looking. Thus, by revealing the intelligence that refutes the abbot's view of meaning, he also understood and became angry, saying, "You who satirize my doctrine, get out!" He expelled even the place that should not be expelled. In this way, the holy ones are skilled in guarding mindfulness, and although they could immediately refute with reason, they considered it inappropriate because he was the teacher, and after prostrating, they left. After some time, he went to the great teacher Dignāga (dbyig gnyen) at Nālandā (na len+trar) and became very proficient in the treatises of the Great and Small Vehicles, the Mind-Only school, and epistemology. He memorized about five hundred sutras. Having received the vidyā-mantra from someone who had attained the siddhi of mantra, he practiced it and directly saw the noble Mañjuśrī and heard the Dharma. In a secluded forest in a place called Coṭābiśā, in a cave called Nyerasila, he single-mindedly practiced the asceticism of meditation. Oh, after some time, in glorious Nālandā (na len+trar), some non-Buddhist opponents who could not defeat those skilled in logic who could directly see their desired deity arrived. There, they were unable to raise the banner of the root of the Buddhists, so they invited the teacher Dharmapāla (phyogs kyi glang po). The four great rivers of debate, examination, establishment72, and refutation raged, and the non-Buddhists, with their arrogant clamor, were completely defeated by the seven limbs of Dharmapāla's (phyogs kyi glang po) reasoning, and they were placed in a position to hide behind the Buddhist doctrine. There, he explained many sutras to the sangha and also promoted the Abhidharma. Wandering in samsara

In order to eliminate the obstacles headed by ignorance from the root, and to generate the wisdom of discernment, he also composed as many as one hundred treatises on epistemology. Later, he thought to compile his scattered methods of reasoning, which were drawn by the hook of extraordinary wisdom, into a complete treatise on epistemology, the "Compendium of Epistemology." On the rock wall of his residence near Mount Bigha (place name) in the south, he wrote the words of praise and vow: The one who has become a measure, who desires to benefit liberation, I pay homage to the teacher, the Sugata, the protector. In order to become a measure, from all my own treatises, I gather all kinds of scattered things here into one body. When he wrote these words with lime, there was an earthquake, light, and a great sound. There, the non-Buddhist teacher Black Victory (person's name) knew that this was an omen. After the teacher Bhikshu went out, he came twice and erased these words. The third time, the teacher wrote as before, and at the end wrote: If this is for fun and jest, because there is a great need, please do not erase it. But, if it is out of jealousy, because it is in the heart, it cannot be erased. If it is for the sake of debate, then please manifest yourself, and we will debate. Seeing this, he also stopped. After the teacher Bhikshu returned, he offered the teaching as a reward and began the debate. That non-Buddhist was defeated many times. The teacher said: Now you should join Buddhism. He became angry and threw ashes cast with mantras. Most of the teacher's utensils were burned, and the teacher was almost burned. He felt sad and thought: Alas, I cannot even subdue this one non-Buddhist, how can I benefit the vast number of beings? He manifested the desire to enter into peace, and vowed to generate Bodhicitta before the alms bowl fell to the ground. At this time, Manjushri appeared and said: Child, alas, you have generated evil thoughts because you have encountered the Hinayana. Until you become a Buddha, I will be your spiritual friend. The non-Buddhist
