This gathering of merits, I dedicate entirely to all sentient beings. What the Bhagavan has spoken, Is not mentioned in the scriptures in this way. Therefore, those who possess meaning and benefit, follow the doctrine of the Buddha, and desire to enter into Nirvana in the peaceful and sacred city, should cherish the accumulation of all the merit, dedicating it to the supreme state of Nirvana, causing it to increase and expand. Thus, even a small root of virtue, if initially grasped by the mind of enlightenment, based on non-objectification in the middle, and expanded by dedication at the end, when these three are complete, it will not be wasted in the intermediate state until the essence of enlightenment is attained, and it will increase immeasurably, and the cause of enlightenment will ripen, and so on. It has immeasurable necessities and is completely related to the path of liberation and omniscience. Thus, just as a drop of water is dropped into the great ocean, its flow will never be exhausted for eons. As it is said in the "Inquiry of Sagacious Ocean": "As a drop of water falls into the great ocean, It will not be exhausted until the ocean is exhausted. Likewise, the virtue of dedicating to enlightenment, Will not be exhausted until enlightenment is attained." That which is in accordance with this also appears in the "Sutra of the Inexhaustible Treasury of Wisdom." If one does not possess such dedication, it will be wasted in the intermediate state, and most of the virtues practiced with faith will be in vain. Only by the attraction of a virtuous mind, one may temporarily be reborn in a happy realm, but it will be exhausted by that alone, or even if it is not completely exhausted, the power of merit will become weak, so that the power to produce results in the future will become small. (Nāpāla) The Twenty-second Chapter, "The Determination of Suchness," of the "Glorious Secret Essence Tantra," translated and revised by Vimalamitra, Jñānagarbha, and Ratna Chok. This has three versions: the Old Translation of Buddha-secret and Vairocana, the Intermediate Translation of Padmasambhava and Jñāna, and the Later Translation of Vimalamitra and Ratna Jñāna. All three of these are the basic translations combined by Lotsawa and Paṇḍita. Later, the translations of Tharlo Nyima Gyaltsen and Gö Lotsawa are embellishments because they lack Sanskrit texts. On top of that, there are twenty-two chapters.
