After a while, the Brahmin awoke from his faint, wondering who was there. He tried to call out but couldn't speak. He wanted to see but had no eyes. He wanted to stand but had no waist. The many women pressing down on him caused him to lose consciousness, and his body became filled with blisters and dryness. He thought, "What is this? Is this suffering and misery the result of past karma? Or is it the work of someone's jealousy?" When he realized it was the prince who had done this, he uttered a curse: "Prince, even though I have been so kind to you, you do this to me! In one lifetime, may your body be covered with leprosy, boils, ringworm, carbuncles, vitiligo, scabs, blisters, and six kinds of diseases. May a thousand flesh-eating worms make their nests in your body. May you be blind and mute, with paralyzed limbs, and suffer greatly!" Then, after he died, he passed through the three lower realms in succession and was born into the sixteen hells. For countless eons, he would not see the face of the noble fruit, and the sprout of bodhi would wither. At that moment, the Bhagavan himself emanated the glorious Vajrapani from his heart and commanded: "Go to the desire realm, where there is a being called 'The One with the Decaying Body,' who is experiencing the karmic result of having harbored ill will towards his teacher in a previous life. In this way, the sprout of bodhi has withered, and he has died in suffering and fallen into hell. There is no liberation from the karmic result of other actions; the karmic result of harboring ill will towards one's teacher is extremely difficult to purify. Vajrapani, go and bestow upon him the blessings and supreme empowerment of the profound ritual, and cause him to be born in the heavenly realms!" Thus the Bhagavan commanded. Vajrapani agreed and then requested the Bhagavan again: "Bhagavan, please explain the nature of these empowerments."
