Through meditation, the Dharmakaya is obscured, unseen. To meditate on emptiness with grasping is, because there is something to meditate on, bound by the delusion of subject and object. Like stirring muddy water, it becomes muddy again. To dispel thoughts, meditating on non-thought stirs them up. Clinging to thoughts, meditating on emptiness is ruinous. Like leaving muddy water undisturbed, it clears, leaving appearances uncorrected, not following after them, is liberation. Having realized the meaning of mind's nature, without basis or root, when grasping at entities ceases, appearances cannot bind. Like the moon in water, appearing yet empty, appearance and emptiness are simultaneous, and even the sudden, spontaneous arising of conceptual appearances, liberate themselves in the very moment of appearing, manifestly clear. Mind's nature is empty, self-liberated, without foundation. To the meaning of no foundation, the name "emptiness" is given, like the characteristics of a barren woman's child. Empty in name, without substance in reality. It is not empty, but clearly manifest. Though manifest, it is without substance, like a flower in the sky. Only appearing, there is no object to grasp. Primordially empty, primordially liberated, spontaneously perfect by nature. Not established as one, not separate as many, conventional and ultimate, appearance and emptiness, are divided into two. Like someone with diseased eyes seeing two moons in the sky, those with wrong views perceive appearance and emptiness as two. Like someone with cataracts seeing hairs in the sky, flawless eyes see nothing at all. Conventional delusion appears as duality of existence and non-existence, but in the ultimate state, there is no duality of existence and non-existence. The ultimate is non-dual, free from extremes, beyond expression, not an object of appearance, thought, meditation, or knowledge. Therefore, all realizations of the emptiness of all phenomena are partial realizations, not the meaning of the nature of reality. In the emptiness of one's own mind, non-dual and free from extremes, how could one meditate on emptiness with emptiness? Like the eye cannot see itself, meditator and object of meditation are not established as two, self-arisen, self-liberated, spontaneous, co-emergent. Like a snake's knot, it is naturally liberated. Not created by causes, it is liberated in its very nature. Not destroyed by conditions, it is liberated without change. Not clinging to emptiness, it is liberated in its own clarity. Not established as a thing, it is liberated without birth. Not established as existent, it is liberated without arising. Not lost in non-existence, it is liberated without cessation. Not falling into any side, it is liberated in indivisible oneness. Not established as one, it is liberated from extremes. Not being what it is, not being what it is not, it is liberated. Not artificial, spontaneously perfect.

Thereby liberated in itself. Liberated beyond expression of liberation or non-liberation. Inexpressible, beyond mind, the great self-liberation. Beyond mind, the very meaning of being free from belief. Equality undefiled by the eight extremes. The spontaneously accomplished Dharmakaya, free from conceptualization. In the Buddha without beginning or end. In essence, liberated as Samantabhadra. Having realized this, there is no meditation or non-meditation. Even if one meditates, there is not a speck of quality to be born. For example, the sky is primordially empty; there is no need to meditate on emptiness. Even if one meditates, it does not become emptier than that. The very nature of mind is Dharmakaya, empty-clear, without grasping. Even if one meditates, it does not become better than that. Even if one leaves it unmeditated, it does not become worse. Even if the essence of the sun is covered by earth. The essence of the sun does not diminish in clarity. Even if the very nature of mind engages in the Dharma of illusory appearances. In the state of empty-clear Dharmakaya, there is no increase or decrease in clarity. Like a seed that cannot be turned back into a fruit. In the perfectly pure Dharmakaya, there is no change. Unchanging, compassionate, pervading all. There is no meditation, as it transcends the realm of knowledge. There is no distraction, as it is clear by its very nature. Appearance-emptiness self-liberation, the Dharmata Dharmakaya. Not accomplished by the deeds of the Buddhas, but primordially existent. Vajrasattva is seen at this time. Samatha. City of the Gods) Emaho! The supreme being liberated in its own place of emptiness. Indicating by signs to the best of individuals. Introducing the meaning of self-liberation, spontaneously accomplished. By the appearance of exhausting Dharmata. In order to realize the single decisive spontaneous accomplishment, to the Lama. Requesting the empowerment of that very spontaneous accomplishment. At noon, to the Lama. Having requested. The Lama leads the disciple to a solitary place. Having the disciple bow down naked. Joining the palms, offering this prayer. Emaho! To the all-good Lama, the great bliss. Praying from the state of self-luminous Dharmakaya. In the mandala of spontaneously accomplished great bliss. Bless us to attain all-knowing perfect Buddhahood. Praying in this way three times. Then, the Lama says: Son of self-liberated Dharmata. Are you pleased to enter the meaning of spontaneous accomplishment? The disciple replies: I am pleased. Then, the Lama bestows the vows: Have you exhausted the clinging to what is to be liberated? The unpolluted Buddha, spontaneously accomplished.
