In the vast expanse, the wisdom body that has not abandoned ignorance, the great pure sphere is perfected in bindu. One perfection is like sesame, two perfections are like lentils, samsara and nirvana, all dharmas are perfected in the expanse. One arises as primordial purity, two arise as play, the four lamps, scriptures, and tantras are all perfected, all bodies and realms arise. One birth is sesame, the expanse of emptiness, two births are wisdom mingled with the expanse, all the mind's consciousnesses arise. One is without, ignorance, mind, and heart are without, impure afflictions are all without, partiality, attachment, and knots are without. Thus, in Ati Mahayana, the dharma that is done is from the beginning, there is no doer or deed. In Ati Longchen, my own nature, there is no need to keep vows, from the beginning it is free from keeping. Non-existent, scattered, spontaneously accomplished, in the nature of unique transparency. The profound meaning of all mantras, the vast realm of Ati Mahayana, like a lion, a predator in the sky, owls and foxes are all subdued, self-awareness is permanently established, and the inferior is suppressed. As the mountain king suppresses the foothills, as the great sea suppresses the small water, as the wish-fulfilling tree suppresses the small trees, as the elephant and the steed suppress the livestock, the essence of all vehicles, the great perfection of my own nature, samsara and nirvana, the nine vehicles are all subdued within it. The meaning of the three kayas of wisdom that arise from themselves and dissolve into themselves, in the unborn realm, the great perfection without meditation, is separated from the two, the meditator and the meditated. Without grasping, it is self-liberated, like the knot of a snake and its tail, self-liberated, self-enlightened, great perfection. Likewise, all partial thoughts and attachments are self-liberated, self-enlightened, great perfection. In Ati Mahayana, my own nature, how can there be hope and doubt? Hope and doubt are the cause of downfall, how can there be samsara and nirvana? How can there be Buddhas and sentient beings? Unabandoned, in the expanse, self-liberated, without accomplishment, free from accomplishment. Unmade, unborn. Unobstructed, pervasive, vast, and complete. Unchanging, vast, and great perfection. Without dharma, the Buddha is without error. Without place, there is no wisdom. How can there be non-existent dissipation? Unabandoned, bright and without attachment. Whatever arises is play, whatever appears is a companion. For example, in a great forest fire, the great wind arises as a companion. In the play of great perfection, samsara and nirvana are ornaments, this is the view of Ati.

Thereafter, he remained spontaneously in the state of vast primordial purity. From the tantra of the all-encompassing essence of all vehicles, the Great Ati tradition, this is the seventh root. Samaya! Seal! Seal! Seal! Treasure Seal! Hidden Seal! Profound Seal! Entrusted Seal! Vajrasattva again requested: Kyeho! Buddha Ancestor, the essence of the five kayas, Samantabhadra who has transcended hope and fear, such a Great Perfection, what kind of teacher reveals it? Please bestow teachings upon the assembled retinue. In response to this request, the Teacher, the Self-Born, spoke thus: Kyeho! Vajrasattva, listen. In general, the qualities of a lama are as follows, possessing these perfections: He has received the oral transmission of the Great Perfection, has perfected all empowerments and abides by the samayas, his view is decisive and his understanding of cause and effect is meticulous, he diligently practices the experience of meditation, his conduct is disciplined and possesses the key instructions, he has perfected the six aspects of secret mantra vajra, he is liberated through hearing, possesses compassion, is skilled in methods for taming beings, possesses miraculous powers, is blessed by the Sugatas of the three times and their sons, the oral transmission, the word transmission, and the mind transmission are unmixed with others, he is accepted as a son of the Buddhas, his Pratimoksha vows are as pure as crystal, he is knowledgeable in the ten sciences and skilled in the desired Dharma, he is without weariness and compassion arises, he strives for the benefit of sentient beings in the Great Vehicle, he is skilled in the inner rituals of secret mantra, he has completed the recitation and practice, and his abilities are perfect, he has exhausted the meaning of primordial purity, he is happy and understands the measure of appearances, he is very skilled in the meaning of the Great Perfection, he does not seek the trivialities of this life, he is skilled in examining disciples and has studied the nine vehicles, he has little attachment and no clinging, the lama who possesses these qualities is like a wish-fulfilling jewel, and through him, the benefit of oneself and others is accomplished. Connecting with him brings forth qualities, relying on him, one attains perfect enlightenment in an instant. The lama who deviates from this is one who is falsely learned in the Dharma and abandons ordinariness, without discipline, he acts like a householder, the karmic results of his misdeeds are heavy, compassion has not arisen and he accomplishes his own benefit, he loses the benefit of sentient beings and the teachings of those to be tamed, the signs of mantra practice, meditation, and recitation have not arisen, he does not understand the key points of the tantric practice rituals, he utters curses like thunder, he has not abandoned attachment and aversion and falls into samsara, his knowledge of the Dharma is small and he is skilled in...
