Ra. Having become miserable after countless eons, they count their own misdeeds and repent, crying out "Kyi hud." In that realm dwells a great chieftain named Dharma King, who instructs them: From non-thought arises discrimination. Because of evil deeds such as killing, the eighteen realms are full of dangers. Because of seeing the confusion of karma, one errs. The nature of mind, free from cause and condition, is without the names of happiness and suffering. Liberated from good and evil, one is liberated by abiding equally in the mind. Having said this, they, through contemplation, are temporarily liberated from those sufferings. They become great pretas, some with a hundred heads on one body, some with many heads and limbs, some with one head and one hand. Their bodies and heads are as large as Mount Meru, but their limbs are extremely thin. Their navels and bellies are as large as houses and lands, but their senses are as small as mustard seeds. They have no control over food and drink, and in places where they see poison, flames, and weapons, they suffer themselves for eons, crying out for help and repenting. In that place dwells a chieftain named Dharma Lamp Extremely Blazing, who has free control over food and drink. He instructs those miserable ones in their own language: Bound by stinginess and jealousy, not knowing oneself because of deluded views, because the three realms have not been liberated from arising, where could there be stingy things in your own pure self-nature, you extremely miserable pretas? That itself has become the basis of desire, so your own self-awarenesses are all liberated. Having instructed them thus, those stingy ones, through reflecting on themselves, attain complete liberation. Therefore, they are reborn as dull and foolish animals, alternately becoming pigs, otters, dogs, foxes, marmots, cats, foxes, wolves, crows, owls, eagles, vultures, magpies, scops owls, bears, brown bears, tigers, and other sentient beings who crave flesh and blood and kill living beings. They are born angry and violent, and in each birth they live for many years, experiencing miserable suffering, killing and devouring each other. Finally, they become a sow named "Waiting to Go," with an extremely large body, legs and arms spread all over the body, but

Unable to lift its body, unable to walk, with a very large belly and great suffering, yet finding food difficult, it emits a thorny sound. Its teeth have worn away its fur, and in each pore where the fur once was, many other tiny creatures insert their mouths, sucking blood, pus, and even marrow. Tormented by the unbearable suffering of disease, it emits a thorny sound, and its body emits a foul odor, so that even within a yojana, other beings cannot remain and flee. Born into such a body, it cannot bear to see it decay and wishes it to last long, desiring others to eat it, thus giving rise to all five afflictions. At that time, in that place, a great lion dwelt in peace, gazing at the pig with unchanging, loving eyes, and spoke in its own language: 'Deprived of the stream of happiness, beings are ignorant and wretched, having accumulated their own faults, they harm themselves. One's own mind is like the essence of space, suddenly obscured by clouds, wandering in anger, a realm of sorrow. If self-appearing wisdom is clear, liberation is attained.' The pig said: 'My body and mind are tormented, becoming wretched and weak. Without flesh, blood, food, or drink, what is the use of speaking these useless mental words?' Having spoken thus, it covered its ears and died, transmigrating from there. Then, guided by those powerful karmas, it took birth in the buddha-field of the Tathagata Lion's Roar, born as the son of a spirit named 'Arrogant,' possessing the form of a courageous and powerful man, taking the lives of all beings, great and small, and harming others with various kinds of harm. There, the Tathagata Lion's Roar went before him, snapped his fingers, and said: 'Grasping at self where there is no self, indulging in the four roots and limbs, even being born in the Avici hell, if contemplated, will become pure and immaculate like dust in the sky. The ripening of karma is unbearable, but if skillful means and the power of compassion are wielded, the fruit of liberation and happiness will be gradually liberated.' Having spoken thus, the man replied: 'Of noble lineage, with a beautiful form.'
