Two-hand mudra. Two fingers should be like hooks. Two fingers should be knotted like a rope. Fingers should be tightly clasped like iron fetters. Having generated joy, it should be like a bell. This is a symbolic representation. Because it completely eliminates all afflictive obscurations, it is the terminator, Yama the Lord of Death. Because of purity, it is said that after the afflictive obscurations are purified, the peaceful activity reaches its culmination. After the obscurations of karma are purified, the enriching activities all reach their culmination, which is the great powerful one. Purifying the obscurations of entering into equanimity and reaching its culmination is Hayagriva, who brings the activity of power to its culmination. Purifying the cognitive obscurations and reaching their culmination, as well as the fierce activity. Reaching its culmination is said to be Amrita Kundali. The culmination of the four activities is for the benefit of others. Purifying the four obscurations and reaching their culmination is for one's own benefit. Because it completely purifies the obscurations of the cause, which are afflictions, it is the Iron Hook Mother. Completely purifying the obscurations of karma and result is the unchanging Rope Mother. Because it completely purifies and pervades all activities, it is the Iron Fetter Mother who purifies the obscurations of entering into equanimity.
