and so on. In the very basis of all things, because there is no one-sided limitation, it is both everything and nothing. Having said that, (Namkhai Nyingpo) asked: How can one be all-pervasive to all beings? The Blessed One replied: The self-born essence is truly authentic, and has been all-pervasive from the very beginning, even before realization. Because the heart of sentient beings is Bodhicitta, it pervades all beings. Having said that, he again asked: What is self-awareness? The Blessed One replied: Unfabricated true wisdom is self-illuminating, penetrates all obscurations, has no other illuminator, and has no grasping, therefore it is called self-awareness. Having said that. The five hundred and twenty-third chapter, the chapter on the true meaning, from the Tantra of the Manjushri Six Thousand Stanzas Secret Mantra Ocean, is completed. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, Namkhai Nyingpo, again asked the Great Vajradhara: Blessed One, King Vajradhara, what is the analogy for the basis itself? The Blessed One replied: The basis that has existed from the beginning is like crystal, pure in its own nature. In the pure and clear crystal, although there is a basis for the appearance of all things, the power of purity makes the appearance without self-nature. Therefore, in the self-born Dharma-nature, all dharmas such as samsara and nirvana have a basis for appearing and shining, but the things themselves do not have an independent entity. Crystal has no inside, outside, front, or back, and exists like a stainless, transparent space. The basis has no inside, outside, etc., and with the stainless purity of transparency, all dharmas appear without self-nature. Having said that, he again asked: What is the analogy for the view? The Blessed One replied: The view that does not misunderstand reality is like the great medicine camphor. Factors such as heat and cold cause it to appear as medicine and poison, but although they appear different, the camphor itself does not change. Factors such as disease cause it to appear as medicine. In the Dharma-nature that has existed from the beginning, due to the difference between realization and non-realization, the dharmas of the Great Vehicle, the Small Vehicle, samsara, and nirvana appear as different from each other, but the Dharma-nature is spontaneously perfect and completely pure, and does not change into a great Bindu. Having said that, he again asked: What is the analogy for Samadhi meditation? The Blessed One replied: Samadhi meditation is like the sky, pervading everything, vast and open. The sky does not meditate on the sky, does not prohibit miracles, and does not accept faults. The view that does not misunderstand reality, constantly in

Unwavering clarity. Do not meditate on mind with mind, and whatever arises as thoughts of mind, because mind has no basis to point to. Thoughts do not cease, they are the ground itself. Do not cultivate habits, it is non-thought. It is said, "In clarity, do not be distracted, rest in the natural state." Then asked: What is the example of conduct? He replied: Great conduct is like a flame. A flame does not need to seek what to burn. By touching, it understands the meaning of words, immeasurable conduct. Inwardly and outwardly, it never contends with the Dharma. Whatever arises in the mind, there is no acceptance or rejection. The nature of Dharma abides above separation from grasping. Thus he spoke. Again asked: What is the example of the fruit? He replied: The fruit is like a Chakravartin king. When a Chakravartin king opens his eyes, signs and qualities naturally arise. The seven precious things arise effortlessly. Originally, the Buddha abides in his own place. If one recognizes the awareness of one's own mind, wisdom arises spontaneously. Without seeking qualities, it is spontaneously perfected. Therefore, the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya arise effortlessly. The Bodhisattva accomplishes the welfare of beings to the end. Thus he spoke. Again asked: Please explain the example of benefiting beings to be tamed. He replied: Benefiting beings to be tamed is like a precious jewel. If one enjoys the wish-fulfilling jewel, poverty is forever gone, and all needs and desires are fulfilled. Enjoying desirable qualities does not require seeking. If one realizes that the nature of mind is inherently enlightened, then there is no bias, and all extremes are unstable. One abides constantly in the true meaning of the unconditioned nature of Dharma. The twenty-five fruits arise completely. Thus he spoke. Again asked: What is the example of the basis of appearance? He replied: The example of the basis of appearance is like the ocean. All small rivers and streams, even if they arise, arise from the ocean. Even if they gather, they gather in the ocean. Vast and deep, the place of precious jewels. All phenomena of samsara and nirvana, even if they arise, arise from the basis of Dharma. Even if they gather, they gather in the basis of Dharma. The nature of Dharma is deep and difficult to realize, qualities are spontaneously perfected, and play manifests. Thus he spoke. Again asked: What is the example and meaning of the instructions? He replied: The example of the instructions is like rain. Leaving the ground, sprouts grow. Profound instructions abandon ordinary mind, and the sprouts of Bodhicitta grow. Thus he spoke. Again
