It teaches to receive after hearing. There are two aspects of true understanding. In relative truth, meditate on the illusory body of the generation stage. In ultimate truth, meditate on the clear light of the completion stage. Thus it was said. From the Tantra of the Elephant King's Perfect Subjugation, the tenth chapter, which teaches the explanation of the seven ornaments in all the secret tantras of secret mantra. Then, the Bhagavan Great Vajradhara, having entered into samadhi to ascertain the object to be observed, spoke this verse specifically: All phenomena, without exception, are included in two: the way things are and the way they appear. And how is that? The way things are is the basis of suchness, the nature of all that is non-dual and free from distinctions. The way things appear is the appearance of samsara and nirvana as two, becoming unawakened and awakened. Then, the unbridled Goche retinue, asked the Coemergent One thus: The self-arisen appearance of the six realms, is it the basis of the way things are itself, or not? If it is, then the beings of the six realms, seeing the truth, will be self-liberated without effort. If not, then the sentient beings of the six realms, how will they attain the fruit of Buddhahood? However, if it becomes non-dual, awareness and ignorance appear as different. However, if they appear separately as different, Buddhas and sentient beings have no connection. Mind itself is not the Sugata-garbha, like enemies, water and fire. Thus spoke the Medicine God. Then, the Coemergent Dwelling retinue, rejoiced and spoke wondrously and marvelously. All sentient beings of the three realms of samsara, mind itself is primordially manifest enlightenment. Not knowing that, they do not see the truth, like seeing gold but not knowing it is gold. Even though one's own mind is the spontaneously accomplished Buddha, because the power of conceptual grasping has increased, those who grasp at self and what belongs to self, not seeing the truth, wander in samsara. Although Buddhas and sentient beings are non-dual, yet the Hinayanists grasp at samsara and nirvana as different entities. By abandoning samsara, happiness is attained, like the back and front of a mirror. The karma of sentient beings of the three realms, is connected with the compassion of the Buddhas of the three times. For example, like two people as relatives and friends, the Sugata-garbha dwells as one. Understanding this, sentient beings are Buddhas. Again, the Goche retinue asked: From what does the cause of samsara arise? If it arises from ignorance, then is it present in the basis or not? If it is present, then ignorance cannot be abandoned. If it is not present, then there is no root for arising. Even though it is not present, it will arise

Urpa Na. Flowers also grow from the sky. He taught the assembled retinue: The nature of mind is primordially Buddha, But because definitive knowledge has not arisen, The co-emergent ignorance, Though without a basis, suddenly appears, Like clouds in the sky. The retinue of the awakened ones asked again: The mind of samsara has no root, If there is something to realize in it, Since the sky is primordially empty, One cannot find a second emptiness in it. Therefore, whatever Buddhas realize is appearance. The retinue of the co-emergent one said: For example, the eye sees other things, But it does not see the dust in the eye. Like looking in a mirror to remove dust, Because one does not recognize one's own mind, Look into the mirror of the dharmadhatu, The unborn, free from elaboration, is manifested. The duality of object and mind dissolves into the expanse. Free from ignorance, wrong views, and faults, The sun of wisdom and knowledge rises, Ignorance itself is liberated into awareness. Awareness, vast and boundless, also expands, Like the sun's disc, without east or west. The wish-fulfilling tree grows completely, The wish-fulfilling offering tree burns everywhere, The auspicious vase is filled with bliss. Darkness is cleared away by understanding what was not understood, The great thigle transcends speech, The hero is the basis of all five essences, The hundred peaceful and wrathful deities complete samsara and nirvana. Thus it was said. From the Tantra of the Elephant King's Great Joy: Establishing samsara and nirvana through the nature of abiding and the nature of appearance, this is the eleventh chapter. Then, the Bhagavan, the supreme lord of all Buddhas, spoke the following in order to guide sentient beings: The spontaneously accomplished, primordially pure nature of mind is the basis of abiding, The seeds from which all of samsara and nirvana arise. Abiding primordially, pervading all places, But not realized, not manifested. Bodhisattvas are obscured by the obscuration of knowledge, Beings are obscured by the obscuration of afflictions and karma, Those who have entered the path are obscured by their own views. If you want to see what has not been seen, look at your own mind. The inconceivable intention of the vast teachings, The root awareness gathers in the bodhicitta. Shravakas see suffering and its origin as the appearance of samsara, Cessation and the path accomplish nirvana. Pratyekabuddhas see dependent origination as the appearance of samsara, Reversing the flow leads to nirvana. Bodhisattvas see conventional truth as the dharma of samsara, Ultimate truth
