This is what to train in. The extensive explanation says, "Externally and internally, the environment and beings are gathered into Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽)." The coarse aspect is to meditate on the deity's form as a single mudra, that is, a peaceful deity with one ornament and a wrathful deity with one ornament. The fourth is the result, which is to gain stability in the clarity of conceptual aggregates as form and wisdom. An incidental refutation of debate: In the case of a single mudra, are the remaining nine deities meditated upon or not? If they are not meditated upon, then it contradicts what is said in the Lamrim, "Meditate on the wisdom being in one place, in the three places of the crown, throat, and heart, meditate on the three vajras of blessing, in the five places of the head, the five wisdoms, the five wisdoms adorned with the five senses." If they are meditated upon, then it becomes not a single mudra, because the remaining nine deities and the root deity are meditated upon as ten. The answer is that the remaining nine deities are meditated upon. If it is said, then it follows that it is not a single mudra. It is not pervasive, because even if the nine branch deities are meditated upon, only the one root deity is meditated upon, like the trunk of a tree. Furthermore, if one knows the suchness of one dharma, does one know or not know the essence and elaboration of all dharmas? If one does not know, then it contradicts what is said in the Mother Sutra, "If one knows the suchness of form, then one will know the essence and elaboration of all dharmas," and what is said in the Lamrim, "For the sake of wisdom, know everything in this way." If one knows, then by knowing the deity's form of a single mudra as inseparable from appearance and emptiness, does one know or not know the other deities? If it is like the latter, then the vow to know everything by knowing one is broken. If it is like the former, then meditating with elaboration becomes meaningless, if it is said. The answer is that by knowing the characteristic of one deity, one knows the characteristic of all deities with certainty. Even so, meditating with elaboration does not become meaningless, because even though one knows the characteristic with certainty, it does not pervade the extent of what is known. Therefore, it is necessary to meditate on things with certainty, like the nature of gold and the differences in craftsmanship. Again, is the deity's form of a single mudra meditated upon as appearance, or is it meditated upon as appearance without inherent existence? If it is like the former, then it becomes no different from conventional truth. If it is like the latter, then it follows that it is no different from the sudden school of meditating on the deity's form, if it is said. There is no fault, because even though one meditates on inseparability here, one first trains in other samadhis, while the sudden school does not train in other samadhis, so the difference is very great.

Ro. Fourth, the mudra with elaborations has four aspects. First, the purpose is: to liberate from the conceptual thought of clinging to one deity, to reverse individual conceptual thoughts, and because the mudra with elaborations can be practiced, it becomes the cause for accumulating merit and accomplishes the two siddhis. As stated in the Lamrim: "To perfect all merits, to bless the objects of enjoyment, and to extract the edge of the wheel, meditate for the sake of accomplishing the assembly at the time. Drawing, giving, binding, liberating, killing, and cleansing, victory and subduing are done by this samadhi." Second, the essence is: to meditate on all conceptual thoughts as clearly appearing in the mandala of the non-dual wisdom deity. As stated in the Six Successive [Teachings]: "Therefore, there is no difference between the two truths, outer and inner, vessel and contents are primordially pure." Third, the categories are: path, fruit, and mudra with elaborations, three types. The first is: all conceptual thoughts abide primordially in the mandala of the deity. The latter refers to the countless Buddhas residing in the great wheel assembly of Akanishta. The path mudra with elaborations has: peaceful and wrathful two types. Both of these have mandala elaborations, cluster elaborations, face and hand elaborations, and category elaborations, four types. The first has: extensive, intermediate, and concise three types. The second has: one, three, and five types. The third has: one face and two hands, and three faces and six hands, especially the wrathful deity has nine heads and eighteen hands, up to countless heads and hands. The fourth is: the peaceful deity has a thousand Buddhas, twenty-four thousand, and spontaneously accomplished three types. The wrathful deity has one thousand four hundred and fifty, seventy-six thousand eight hundred and fifty, and spontaneously accomplished three types. Fourth, the fruit is: gaining great stability in the appearance of clarity as a mudra. An incidental debate is: if meditating on the forty-two deities is mandala elaboration, then that samadhi would also be with elaborations, because there it is meditated in that way for the sake of other's benefit such as empowerment. Because it is said, "Meditate on the wheel of elaborations with aspiration." If it is said like that, even if meditating only with aspiration, it is not possible to actually meditate, therefore there is no fault of that samadhi becoming with elaborations. Someone says: If that is so, then all the mandala, cluster, category, face and hand elaborations are actually meditated here.
