One should practice, and from that, through blessing, make it have power, descend from the place of self-nature, fix it firmly, offer in order, praise after completion, and thus practice. So it is said. Among them, the practice of the first session is, from where wisdom increases, to perform the recitation with three clear aspects. Therefore, the self-vower, the deity of wisdom, the merging in between, that is, to recite like a key instruction through three clear ways. After opening the recitation room, visualize white rays radiating outwards, purifying obstacles. After retracting, visualize purifying one's own obstacles, becoming a vessel suitable for accomplishments, and recite in this way. Finally, retract the mandala that was opened into oneself. Thus, it was also said earlier: Through recitation, practice, and merging, encourage aspiration and become a vessel, the generation stage mandala is completed. After finishing the recitation in this way, perform the gathering and remainder offering. Retract life, accumulate torma, combine with the later offering, bless the seat and sit down. If walking, bless the rosary as an angry face and protect the seat. Do not examine the wandering of obstacles in the six times, and dispel those respective antidotes by encouraging them. At all times, one should not be separated from the deity's pride. From that it is said: After finishing, retract, yogis gather, offer properly, perform activities, give the inner night remainder offering to the dakinis, dispel obstacles and practice. Here, in the commentaries of Tara and Yung, they only consider connecting with the limbs of the ritual as practice, and do not approve of the practice of the first session. But here, as the scripture says, "Meditate properly in the manner of a wheel," it is done as it appears in the work records of early masters such as the wise Rog. Otherwise, the view that considers approaching practice from the first session of how much practice is done is not unreasonable. In the section on wrathful deities in the Stages of the Path, "Then the second is the ornaments," etc., and in the practice ritual, "Because the order is connected with the ritual," etc., whether it can be established or not should be examined. The second is approaching practice, the other forms of the ritual are the same as before, especially performing gathering and torma offering in six or four times. Perform fire offering. At the time of merging the recitation, encourage with white radiating outwards, and red

Through gathering, one becomes a vessel for accomplishment. The time is half of the duration of the practice. Third, the method of practice is: other rituals are like the approach retreat. During the emission and gathering of the mantra recitation, by emitting red rays, one urges accomplishment, and by gathering, one contemplates attaining the accomplishment of body, speech, and mind. The emission and gathering are done alternately. Like this, during the approach retreat and practice, there are methods for contemplating the concentrated mandala, namely, concentrating into one, concentrating into three, and concentrating into five. The first is: In the Vajra family, everything is the mandala. And so on. Vajrasattva father and mother, plus four pairs of minor deities of one's own family, and four pairs of gatekeeper fathers and mothers, totaling nine pairs of deities, eighteen in all. If that is the case, wouldn't it be the same as the abbreviated mandala? Answer: Although the number of deities is not different, the nature of the deities is different, so there is no fault. Because the abbreviated mandala is Vajrasattva father and mother surrounded by the four Buddha families, while here it is surrounded by the four minor deity families. The second is: Or the nature of body, speech, and mind itself. And so on. In the center is Vajrasattva, in the east is Vairochana, and in the west is Amitabha, these three pairs of main deities, each surrounded by four pairs of minor deities of their own family, becoming three groups of five pairs, totaling thirty. On top of that, in the Abhisamayalankara, it is said that adding eight pairs of gatekeeper fathers and mothers makes thirty-eight. In the Sparkhab, it is said that on top of the thirty peaceful deities, adding eight pairs of wrathful deity fathers and mothers, excluding the upper and lower ones, makes forty-six. The third is: Mantra holders, true accomplishment. And so on. The main five families of fathers and mothers, each surrounded by eight pairs of minor deities of their own family, totaling fifty deities. Ten wrathful deity fathers and mothers, twenty in total, making seventy. Similarly, in the context of "The Great Assembly of Wrathful Deities and Wrathful Mothers," and so on, the mandala of wrathful deities is also explained by combining the three types of concentration. As it says in the Lamrim: Then contemplate one wheel, or three and five. That is to say, concentrating into one wheel has seventy-eight deities. Vajra Heruka father and mother are surrounded by eight pairs of minor wrathful deity fathers and mothers, totaling ten. Eight messenger Gaurimas, eight attendant Singhams, four obedient gatekeepers, totaling twenty wrathful mothers, and the independent mother of whatever is to be done.

Twenty-eight, etc., including the twenty wrathful deities, male and female. In the third group, in addition to the previous ones, there are Buddha Heruka in the east and Padma Heruka in the west, each with their respective retinue, totaling twenty. Adding these to the previous sixty-eight, there are eighty-eight. In the fifth group, in addition to these, there are Ratna and Karma Heruka in the south and north, each with their respective retinue, totaling twenty. Adding these to the previous ones, there are one hundred and eighteen deities. Here, some say, what is the difference between the mandala described here and the mandala mentioned earlier? Opinions differ. Most of the early Zur tradition say that meditating on an indefinite number of deities with an indefinite number of people is a mandala, while meditating on a definite number of deities with a definite number of people is a group. This is not reasonable because when one has gained stability in the first group and then meditates on the third group, the number of people does not increase, but the number of deities does. Also, Dampa Shakya Gyal says that a mandala is one that has an increase in retinue and one that does not, while a group is one that has an increase in its own retinue. In that case, there would be no difference between a mandala with an increase in retinue and the fifth group. Also, Lhaje Kyo says that a group is one in which the main deity is temporarily determined, while a mandala is one in which it is not determined. In that case, the first group itself would become a mandala because the temporary determination of the main deity is done by the Vajra family. Also, Je Dro Phukpa says that there are two differences between the meditating yogi and the deity being meditated upon. The first is that a group is when the deity and the yogi meditate embracing each other, while a mandala is when a yogi, male or female, meditates on the manifestation of the deity's mandala. The second is that a group is when there is one main deity in a group, etc., showing the decrease and increase of the main deity, while a mandala is when it shows the manifestation of phenomena. Or, a group is when the family changes but the wisdom does not change, while a mandala is when both the family and the wisdom change. Although these statements can be established from one aspect, here, my own view is that, according to the view of Nyal Sangye Drak, a group is when the main deity and the retinue are definitely of their own family, while a mandala is when the main deity and the retinue are also definitely of the common family. This is the best way to say it, the man
