It is compared by saying that it depends on the blacksmith. If you say that the self-sharpness of iron does not depend on the blacksmith, then here also it should be said that it does not depend on hearing and thinking. Because the uncultivated continuum exists, it would follow that one could be liberated without effort. If you say that, then even a lump of iron could perform the function of a weapon, which is the same line of reasoning. Therefore, just as sharpness and dullness occur in iron in the same situation of encountering a blacksmith, here also, in the same situation of encountering hearing and thinking, the difference between sharpness and dullness is manifestly established. Third, some say that the Guhyagarbha Tantra is the realm of those with sharp faculties after cultivation, not the realm of those with naturally sharp faculties. The answer is, in the commentary of the Two Tārās, it says that this is not reasonable, for if that were the case, the nature of undefiled dharma would be the realm of the path of seeing, not the realm of the path of cultivation. They say that it is excessive to say that the path of seeing is less intelligent than the path of cultivation. Then, it is excessive to say that cultivated sharpness is less intelligent than self-sharpness. The line of reasoning is the same. If you admit it, then admit it here as well. In the Lamrim it says, "Holding the supreme eye of omniscience." This is clear. They say that in that very text it says: "Without cultivation, abandon the three existences." This is clear, which is a refutation. Fourth, the nature of arising is the arising of the five minds, as it says in the Abdominal Sutra, "The nature is the arising of the five minds." And in the Small Treatise it says, "The five bodhicittas, such as destruction and rising, are definitely considered to be the nature." That is how it is. There are two types, namely the five minds of the path of liberation and the path of means. In the first type, there are two ways of calculating the arising in general, and calculating the order of this very path. The first is that from the ordinary person with natural darkness, and from the wishes of the lower vehicles such as the heretics with intentionally created darkness, the mind moves in Mahāyoga, which is the moving bodhicitta. With that basis, wishing to understand the meaning of Mahā, this is the aspiring bodhicitta. Entering that meaning, this is the entering bodhicitta. Having entered, abiding in the effort to practice the meaning of non-duality, this is the abiding bodhicitta. Having abided, the five paths are perfected, this is the perfected bodhicitta. That is also said in the Lamrim: "Thus, two and four."

The excellent mind of agitation arises and changes. Based on that, one comprehends and prays. The excellent image enters into it. The excellent vows are given there. There are ten benefits for those who have determined their lineage. Blessings are bestowed by two powers. Strive to open one's own excellent eyes. In order to see the mandala of causes. Receive the holy teachings and thoughts. Thus it is said. In the explanation of one's own place, it is said that through six uncommon causes and conditions, from the basis of the knowledge of the previous two errors, the mind that enters the excellent vehicle rises and moves like fire on grass. From that cause, three aspirations arise. From that, one enters the mandala of illusory paintings. After giving vows, the lineage is shown. More than two powers of self-interest are given. Abiding in the cause of seeking the characteristics of knowledge, listening and thinking, gathering the basis of discussion, the initiation of discussion, the necessary connection, the object to be fully known, and the cause of the difference of entrustment, making it the object of practice is the first abiding. When it reaches the limit, fifteen or eighteen are given. Practicing the meaning of both self and others is below the point where knowledge reaches the limit. That abandoning mind has two abidings: abiding in seeing and abiding in the five entries. The mind that reaches the end is the end of the occasion and the three paths of the common end. These are spoken of in terms of order. Thus it is said. Secondly, there are three ways: considering the path as common, considering only the contaminated, and calculating the way in which the five minds are complete in each path. The first is, as said in the explanation of the eye, the first is the mind of agitation arising bodhicitta, the second is the mind of aspiration entering the three, abiding and reaching the end are the fourth and fifth. Thus it is said. After realizing the view, that from samadhi etc. agitates and arises, then aspires to illusion, that enters the single mudra, abides in cutting off elaboration and accumulating merit, and reaches the end on the four vidyadharas. The second is, it says, the third seeing is connected with the four abidings, the fifth is combined with the fifth itself. Thus it is said, for the view there are three of agitation aspiration entering, that from samadhi to elaboration abides in the four, and reaches the end on accumulating merit. The third is, it says, or one yoga is connected with the five. Thus it is said, on each path calculating the way in which the five minds are complete, it is easy to understand. Secondly, the five minds of the path of means are, from the twenty-one realms, destruction.
