is the nature of suffering, action and existence are karma, and the remaining seven are suffering. Nagarjuna said: The first, eighth, and ninth are afflictions, the second and tenth are karma, and the remaining seven are suffering. That is to say, from afflictions arises karma, from karma arises suffering, and from suffering arises afflictions again. For those with bodies, it is actual, and for those without bodies, it circulates in the form of habitual tendencies. Thus, both external and internal dependent origination circulate in the form of twelve branches. The Three Successive Stages says: The twelve dependent origination circulate in various ways, both externally and internally. Sixth, the fault of confusion is that, in that treatise, it says: Separated from the noble path and experiencing suffering, two faults are proclaimed. Therefore, the suffering of being separated from the desired noble path is, as the Extensive Treatise says: Although the five wisdoms pervade all sentient beings, they are obscured by their own conceptual thoughts, and therefore they do not realize the meaning of the five wisdoms. This is the fault of experiencing intense suffering of extreme torment that should be abandoned, and various types of painful feelings that temporarily appear as happiness. That treatise says: One will experience discordant happiness and suffering. Here, some say: Suffering does not become a fault, so how can happiness become a fault? The answer is, Lhaje Nyeton said: Compared to the happiness of the Buddha, no matter how perfect the happiness of sentient beings is, it does not go beyond the nature of suffering, just like a hired worker receiving wages. Moreover, it is definitely the cause of changing suffering. Seventh, in the proof of confusion, the creator of both samsara and nirvana is the uncreated continuous moment, as the Extensive Treatise says: The uncreated continuous moment, there is nothing that it does not grasp. In particular, the creator of samsara is the continuous moment of wrong conception, as that treatise says: The continuous moment of wrong conception, there is nothing that it has not done. Also, that treatise says: The continuum of self, other, and conception. The Three Successive Stages says: The moment with a continuum is said to be the creator of karma. Eighth, the analogy is that samsara is like the rotation of a water bucket, and spreading is like a fire in a pile of grass, as the Three Successive Stages says: Water bucket grass

Like the whirling of a firebrand, it constantly revolves and spreads. Thus it is said. Thus, upon the eight, from that, destruction, arising, emptiness, and abiding, possessing the four of birth, old age, sickness, and death, therefore, it is without an enduring nature. Thus it is said, possessing the dharma of arising and ceasing, it is taught as the nature of samsara. Third, to revert delusion to the nature of reality: Thus, although it appears as delusion in those objects of investigation, the dharmas of samsara, it does not move from its own nature, the nature of reality, just as when a person appears in a wooden post, yet the wooden post does not move. Thus, also, in this very text, it says: There is no deviation from its own nature. Thus it says, there is nothing other than wrong thought. Emptiness, selflessness, primordial wisdom, the mind of self-awareness, transforming the power of mindfulness without object and subject. Other than the wondrous body, speech, qualities, and pure realms, there is nothing else, it is just that, just as it is. Thus, in the Extensive Text, it says: From the completion of the Three Jewels downwards, all the states of the lower realms are truly without difference, there is nothing to be abandoned. Thus it is said. Here, if one asks, what is the necessity of establishing the dharma of samsara? The answer is: There are two necessities: The necessity of explaining the manner of delusion, knowing the faults of samsara, and leading to the path of liberation; and the necessity of recognizing its own nature, without abandoning this samsara, as self-originated wisdom, and knowing that samsara and nirvana are inseparable. Of these, the first is: In the scripture, it says: Without suffering, there is no renunciation. Thus it is said. The second is: In the commentary on "There is nothing else, it is just that, just as it is," the teacher Nyima Oser Sengge says: The dharma of samsara does not exist in another, separate place. The dharma of samsara itself is just the mandala of nirvana, thus it is said. And in the Limb Text, it says: Samsara and nirvana, neither of the two exists; when samsara is fully known, it is called nirvana. Thus it is quoted in the self-commentary of the Lamp for Contemplation. And in the Hevajra Tantra, it also says: This very thing is called the collection of samsara, this very thing is nirvana. Having abandoned samsara, in another place, nirvana cannot be realized. Thus it is said. If it is not like that, then practicing the path will become meaningless, just as if one polishes charcoal, it will not become white. Thus, also, in the Extensive Text, it says: Purification and suffering
