It is not like proving that something that does not exist exists, but rather to make the self-nature manifest, it is merely eliminating illusion. For example, just as relying on medicine to cure eye disease to eliminate the illusion of seeing a yellow conch, it is not like proving that the white of the conch does not exist. Secondly, in terms of ultimate truth, there are four aspects: essence, meaning, classification, and establishment. The first is divided into the essence of mere ultimate truth and the essence of superior ultimate truth. The first is: the nature of all phenomena is unborn and free from the characteristics of elaboration. The second is: awareness is free from elaboration, and appearance is the spontaneous manifestation of the essence. The scriptural proof for this is: from this very text, "The nature of mind, without root, is neither male nor female nor hermaphrodite, without characteristics, without lineage, without color, without shape, not a place, nor anything. Suchness is the realm of wisdom, the root of all mudras of means." The key instruction is: from the Jewel Net Sutra, "In the nature of things, there is no nature of things, the net of conceptualization, transcends the realm of mind." In terms of reasoning, there is proving freedom from elaboration, and proving that this very awareness, free from elaboration, is the spontaneous manifestation of the essence. The first, in the Commentary on the Eye:

This is also unreasonable. Since the result has not yet arisen, it is also not suitable as a producer. In the second case, if it is said to arise from another, then from which does the other arise, from the permanent or the impermanent? If it is said to arise from the permanent, then the permanent is not suitable as the cause of the producer, because the cause does not change, so it is impossible to produce the result. If it produces, the permanent will perish. As it is said in the Two Truths: "All things change and transform, the wise say are impermanent." If it is said to arise from the impermanent other, then from which of the three times does it arise? The past has already experienced the purification of cause and effect, so it is not suitable to produce. The future has not yet arisen, so it is not suitable as a producer. If it arises from the present, then does the result arise simultaneously with itself, or not simultaneously? If they arise simultaneously, then the producer and the produced are unreasonable. If they are not simultaneous, the cause and effect do not meet, so it should not arise. In the third case, if it is said to arise from both, this is also unreasonable. The two, cause and effect, are the same nature

Was that agent created by something permanent or something impermanent? If it was created by something permanent, then, that thing, because it is permanent, lacks the ability to perform a function. Whatever lacks the ability to perform a function is not an agent, like a pot, like a rabbit's horn. If it was created by something impermanent, then, because it is momentary and changing, the past and future are both non-existent, so it is not suitable as an agent. For present things, if the thing produced and the agent are simultaneous, then the creation is of no help; if the times are not simultaneous, then the act and the agent do not meet, so it is not suitable as an agent. Again, someone says: It did not arise from causes and conditions, nor was it made by an agent, nor did it happen suddenly, but these things arise and exist, and no one can prevent them. If you say that the fourth is not established, then, the pot, as a thing, is actually without inherent existence, because it is separate from one and many. As it says in the Madhyamaka Light: These things of self and other, are actually separate from the nature of one and many, so they are without inherent existence, like an image. If you say the reason is not established, then, is the pot itself one or many? If it is one, then is it with parts or without parts? If it is with parts, it cannot be counted as one, like a collection of stars, it will become many. If you think it is without parts, that is not established, because it has six directional parts, and this appearance will disappear. As it says in the Twentieth Stanza: When six are joined together at once, the subtle dust will become six parts. If these six parts are also one, then the aggregate will also become fine dust. If it is many, then do the many depend on one or not? If they do not depend, then the pervasive one is not established, so the pervaded many are also not established, like the position of numbers. If they depend, then it will become one, because it is established by dependence, just as when clinging to fire, the fire appears as one. Therefore, whatever is free from the elaboration of one and many, is pervaded by non-inherent existence, like space. Second, to establish that the nature of being free from elaboration by uncommon reasoning is the cause of the nature of appearance, and is spontaneously accomplished. Whatever is free from elaboration, that thing, is spontaneously accomplished as the cause of the nature of appearance, and even if examined only from appearance, it is truly
