Therefore, it is the one who engages in the practice of mantra. As it is said in the Root Tantra: "From the three doors, the true meaning is accomplished." Fourth is the classification, which includes the time of practice and the objects of practice. First, arising from equipoise, practicing in the post-equipoise state without attachment to anything. As it says: "Everything arises from equipoise." Second, there are two types: common and special. First, the common one is the complete purification of body, speech, and mind. To explain a little, beginners should learn to be mindful like young monks. It is divided into two: actions that avoid unfavorable conditions and actions that rely on favorable conditions. The first is: From the meditation on the object of practice, one should abandon all eight worldly concerns—pleasant and unpleasant sounds, like and dislike, praise and blame, fame and infamy, gain and loss. Having avoided all that is blameworthy, if the mind is not obscured for the sake of increasing the virtue of others, one engages in appropriate, conducive conduct. As it says in the Vajrasekhara Sutra: "Until stability is attained, be without fault, without defilement, and abide in the three vows." The second is to extend the mindfulness of equipoise and rely mainly on activities during session breaks. As it says in the Madhyantavibhaga: "Writing, offering, giving, listening, reading, memorizing, explaining, reciting, contemplating, and meditating—the nature of these ten practices is an immeasurable accumulation of merit." Therefore, one should practice through the ten dharmic activities, the yoga of food and clothing, tormas, water offerings, tsatsas, mandalas, prostrations, circumambulations, continuous confession, sutra recitation, etc., with the preliminary bodhicitta, the main practice of wisdom that does not conceptualize the three spheres, and the subsequent dedication. After becoming somewhat accustomed, when there is no difference between equipoise and post-equipoise in solitude, one uses the conduct of a madman to make realization resistant to conditions. When one is very accustomed, and there is no decrease in realization in either favorable or unfavorable conditions, one benefits others without contrivance, like a king holding the earth—this is the general explanation. The second is the special practice.

Furthermore, the path of liberation is caution, and the path of means is asceticism. Firstly, there are gradual and sudden practices. Within the first, there are also practices of how to engage in the path with outflows and the path without outflows. Firstly, there are six practices: faith and diligence, in accordance with wisdom, in accordance with means, single-pointed, with elaboration, and harmonious practice. The first is the practice of knowing the cause, which is the time of seeking the view. As it says in the "Lamrim": "Diligently engage in the ten practices of hearing and thinking." And as it also says in the "Short Path": "For the sake of others, what need is there to say about accomplishing the benefit of each yogi, the first ten, should be shown and guided to others." Here, the ten dharmas to be practiced are the ten limits of training, that is, taking the root vows as the basis for training is like farming on fertile land; liberating the continuum through hearing is like loosening the strings of a lute; comparing from all aspects is like a bee searching for a hive; extracting with utmost skill is like reaching the summit of Mount Meru; deciding with a decisive view is like a garuda soaring in the sky; experiencing samadhi
