Third, it is realized through the connection of inseparable essence. Second, there is also the case of similar sounds but different meanings: Meaning and, determination, two aspects. The first is: the words are commonly known in Sutra and Tantra, and are determined according to this meaning. The second has: self and general. Freedom from extremes. Distinguishing. Four kinds of reasoning that represent examples. The first is: Those of the characteristic vehicle consider the general characteristic of afflictions to be the state of mind that is not completely pacified. The self-characteristic is: delusion is the mind being completely foolish and dull. Anger is complete torment of mind. Pride is complete arrogance. Desire is complete attachment and craving. Jealousy is intolerance of the perfection of others. They distinguish between self and general characteristics, considering it to be the path of samsara, and thus practice abandonment and practice. Here, the general characteristic of afflictions is considered to be wisdom free from elaboration, and the self-characteristic is considered to be the uninterrupted appearance of the power of illusion. Because there is no other result to be achieved other than realizing this, it is similar in sound but different in meaning. As it is said in the Extensive Treatise: Afflictions, self and general, are shown. If the characteristics are not mistaken and the meaning is realized. It becomes the path of complete purification. If it is proved by reasoning, the five poisons, are not truly established, because their own nature is emptiness. For example, a variegated rope appears as a snake, but in reality, the nature of a snake is not established. Likewise, from the Array of Manifestations: Some self-awareness is a great method. Uninterrupted appearance is self-characteristic. The nature of all things being completely purified. It is a characteristic and is shown as general. The second is: All phenomena, outer and inner, are phenomena. There is no attachment to the extremes of elaboration and the center that depends on it, because they are truly free from one and many. As it is said here: The nature of being free from one and many. Without beginning or end, is Suchness. Even the Buddhas do not see it. Self-born wisdom, unlocalized appearance. And in the Stages of the Path: Without beginning or end, free from many bodies. Whatever is not, is Suchness. To realize the nature of being inseparable. Freedom from extremes is also the same. That is to say, the cause vehicle establishes complete severance and freedom from elaboration by rejecting distinctions, which is similar in sound. But here, the appearance to be rejected is not abandoned, and there is no attachment to extremes, so the meaning is different.

Here it says, "The Middle Way of existence and non-existence is not established, like an illusion or a mirage." Also, in the Ornament of Clear Realization, it says, "To dispel biased wrong views, to introduce the desire for freedom from extremes, although it is said to be free from extremes, all extremes are self-knowing and self-manifesting. Here, there is no attachment to separation or non-separation, liberation or non-liberation." Third, a vase, as a phenomenon, is not inherently established because it possesses various qualities such as shape and color, and therefore the appearances of external objects are not established as one. Like an assemblage of materials for an arrow. Similarly, in the Extensive Treatise, it is said, "The five great elements, to destroy their lack of inherent existence, each one should be divided into five, and absorbed into the sphere of Mūṃ (藏文:མཱུཾ།,梵文天城体:मूṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mūṃ,literal meaning: Mūṃ). Mūṃ itself is beyond words and thoughts." Regarding this, common practitioners divide each of the five great elements into five, establishing them as distinct, thereby destroying coarse appearances. Although the sounds are similar, here, the signifying letter Mūṃ (藏文:མཱུཾ།,梵文天城体:मूṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mūṃ,literal meaning: Mūṃ) unifies the signified, the sphere of reality, making it supreme. The Ornament of Clear Realization says, "When the objects of appearance are completely destroyed, the individual characteristics are unreal. When ground down, they dissolve into the nature of space. If space itself is destroyed by the five, it dissolves into the sphere of no characteristics. To instill faith in this, and to see the great secret ultimate truth, all things spoken are inseparable, and are not different from others by differentiation." Fourth, if one is not convinced by the actual establishment of certain phenomena, then one establishes them through examples. Mind-essence, as a phenomenon, is not established as anything because it is ungraspable, like space. Similarly, the Stages of the Path says, "Because space is ungraspable, all appearances and existences are the same as it." Regarding this, common practitioners consider the example and the meaning to be different, but here, because everything is one in the nature of reality, it is symbolized as inseparable. Although the sounds are similar, the meaning is profound. The Ornament of Clear Realization says, "Because appearance lacks inherent existence, self-knowing and self-manifestation have no object of activity. May it be accomplished in this way for all." Second, regarding reasons where the words and meaning do not agree, there is also understanding and establishment. First, showing that the meaning to be proven and the meaning of the words of the reason contradict each other in conventional terms is a reason where the words and meaning do not agree.
