To establish on the self is the logic of the five realities. From that very text: The perfect, complete Buddha, the teacher, To the retinues tamed by the five bodies, Teaching the five speeches, that very one, Establishes and measures. That is, the teacher, with the Dharma body, to the retinue, the ocean of wisdom, with the speech of unborn meaning; with the Enjoyment body, to the ocean of maturity, with the speech of indicative intention; with the Emanation body, to the ocean of faith, with the speech of expressed words; with the Vajra body, to the indivisible Vajra retinue, with the Vajra speech; with Manifest Enlightenment, to the ocean of victors, with the speech of awareness, blessing, actually communicates. That is, from the former: Like gold that is cut and polished, Well examined by the five realities, it is lowered. Here, some say: In the past, did the retinue of the five bodies have measurable clinging appearances or not? If according to the second, then the measuring logic becomes meaningless, because there is nothing to measure, like a scale without substance. If according to the first, it is unreasonable, because the teacher making the retinue of the five bodies is the domain of experience up to the path of seeing, and the path of seeing is pervaded by the purification of clinging appearances, because the path of seeing and clinging appearances are directly contradictory, they say. In response to that, the ancients said that clinging appearances can occur to the retinue of the Emanation body, because it works for the benefit of both tamable beings, pure and impure. The retinue of the four bodies does not have clinging appearances, because even in subsequent attainment, they see all phenomena as like illusions. Therefore, the five realities are a branch of the logic that establishes the realization of followers, but they are not logic in relation to what happened before, they said. Some say that even the retinue of the four bodies has various subtle clinging appearances, because if there were none, the retinue of the four bodies would be meaningless. The self-system thinks that it is reasonable to accept the latter, because the meaning of clinging appearances is to falsely impute good and bad onto the meaning of the nature of reality with the defilements of the mind. From that, the two gross and subtle bad thoughts are abandoned by the path of seeing and meditation, and the good thoughts that always rely on the antidote, or the very subtle obscurations of knowledge, are even on the final path, because there is still a need to maintain equipoise, and because they need to be destroyed by the antidote, the diamond-like samadhi. Thus it is also said:

From the Lamrim, it is clear that "it destroys the predispositions." Secondly, for those with extremely sharp faculties, these appearances and sounds are representative. Understanding the forms of the speech of the five bodies, which were previously established by the five entities, as the five modes of reasoning. As it says in the same text: "For minds endowed with realization, various objects, mind, secrets, mantras, because they are definite scriptures, they show the nature of Dharma. By conveying symbols like statements, because of the self-nature's explanation, it is a definite proof for future meaning." That is, the proofs that correspond to the speech and manner of the Teacher's Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, Manifest Enlightenment, Vajra, and Nirmanakaya are, respectively: the proof of unborn meaning, like the sky symbolizing the unborn; the proof of symbolic intention, like the reflection in a mirror identifying obscurations; the proof of self-awareness manifest, like the essence of the sun, self-illuminating without thought; the proof of indivisible Vajra, like the indivisible echo of a rock in emptiness; and the proof of expressive words, like the Brahma sound that enters all minds. Thirdly, the five previous modes themselves, when explicitly expressed in words, are the five proofs of words. That is, the words of the Dharmakaya are the words and letters that show the unborn self-appearance. Similarly, the indirect symbolic intention of the Sambhogakaya, the guiding lineage of the Nirmanakaya, the indivisible Vajra of the Vajrakaya, and the wisdom of the Manifest Enlightenment are all words and letters that show self-appearance. As it says in the Lamrim: "The nature of appearance, words, self-appearance, words, indirect intention, words, and guiding words, desire-condition words and Vajra words, self-awareness manifest, indicated by words." So, if seven speeches occur here, how will they transform according to speech? Some summarize the nature of self-appearance as the speech of the Dharmakaya, but here, according to Nartang, it is better to summarize both as the speech of symbols. If these are summarized, they are: understanding without examination and understanding with examination. First, it is the proof of the four bodies, because the meaning is understood without relying on examination. Second, it is the proof of the Nirmanakaya, because the meaning must be understood by relying on examination. As it says in the Lamrim: "Although it is so, if summarized, there are two, after four."
