Three, and thirty-four consonants from ka to ksha, plus eight vowels from i to au, totaling forty-two letters to be included. In short, the miraculous transformations of A are contained and perfected in forty-five letters, thus, letters symbolize the root of the Dharmakaya's play and all Sambhogakaya's mandalas. Second, the nature of letters is: The mind's etc. two lines: The mind's own nature, luminosity itself, appears as letters; apart from that, there is not even a little bit of letters that exist as substantial things. As it is said in the sutra: Subhuti, letters are unborn in the ultimate sense, they are the nature of A. What is the nature of A? That is the nature of mind, which is completely beyond all existence and non-existence. So it is. Third, the function is: Without object etc. one verse: The letters themselves, which have no object of focus on anything, also spontaneously appear as various plays of letters, that is, the great wheel of the mandala of body, speech, and mind without obstruction. Therefore, the spontaneously accomplished body, speech, and mind from the beginning is a wonderful place, it is an amazing and manifesting as a great miracle of accomplishment, which thoroughly attracts and guides the self-knowing realization into manifestation. Fourth, the definition is: Realm etc. two lines: In a way that is without effort, the realm of objects of phenomena is written in the realm of objectless wisdom. Therefore, the cloud of letters that is spontaneously accomplished from the beginning is unchanging and has the ability to clarify all that is to be expressed, therefore, the name of letters is merely a nominal term. If interpreted from the Sanskrit root of the word for letters, akshara, it means immutable; byañjana (梵文天城体:vyañjana,梵文罗马拟音:vyañjana,汉语字面意思:manifestation); varna (梵文天城体:varṇa,梵文罗马拟音:varṇa,汉语字面意思:ability) means having ability. Second, explaining the meaning of the divisions is divided into two: explaining the meaning of the three encompassing and the forty-two encompassed. The first is: The head is etc. three lines: The head of the symbolizing letter is Berkari, the meaning symbolized is the non-erroneous union, the nature of non-dual wisdom, symbolizing the mind vajra. The function is that because it is the door that guides and enters all letters, it is similar to a path. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Glorious Given: The head is the initial symbol, the initial form that appears is

That is the beginning of letters, called "Berka Ris." The letter "Tik" is a word, meaning the inexpressible nature of wisdom, the speech vajra. Its function is to gather all the letters, connect them with vowels, and form the names of individual things, expressing them clearly. As stated in the "Yoga Ornament": "For the sake of gathering, the dot is Tik; gathering the scattered, it speaks the name." Some here say that Indian manuscripts do not have dots, so they say it is Tibetan, but this is because they have not seen what is said in "The Rise of the Army": "The curves, extensions, head circles, and dots must not be diminished." The letter "Shad" is meaning, the nature of taming through skillful means and great compassion, the body vajra. Its function is to combine verses and divide chapters. As stated in the "General Sutra": "The letter that indicates division is called 'Name Staff' in Ladakh." The second part has seven aspects. First, the letters of the auspicious and the five families of male and female deities. A is unborn, etc., three verses less than a full verse. The letter A is that all dharmas are unborn, the realm of suchness, the female named Samantabhadri. The Intermediate Mother Sutra says: "A, which is called unborn from the beginning, is the door of all dharmas." The Later Magical Illusion Sutra says: "A is emptiness, empty from the beginning; in emptiness, there is no emptiness. It is the basis or cause of all letters, therefore it is placed at the beginning." Because it is the source of all letters, it is mentioned first. The letter Ṭa is the illusion-like consciousness, the mudra purified into the wisdom of the dharmadhatu, the emanation of Akshobhya Vajra. Here, the term "magical illusion" is used to indicate the five lords, because the five aggregates are like illusory appearances, non-existent, merely appearing as luminosity, and although the appearances are unceasing, the basis of appearance, the wisdom of primordial self-awareness, is the five wisdoms. That itself emanates as the five Tathagata families through the mudra of skillful means, as stated in the "Branch": "The wisdom of the five aggregates as illusion, self-awareness emanates as the five families through skillful means." Thus, from the common name "magical illusion transformation," regarding the individual characteristics: Ṭa is the mudra of mirror-like wisdom, the deity appearing is Vairochana. Ḍa is the wisdom of equality, the mudra that perfectly fulfills wishes is Ratnasambhava. Ḍha is the observation that all dharmas are distinct and unmixed, the wisdom of perfect purity.
