For the sake of being seen by the esteemed Bawo Shapdrung Rinpoche brothers, And also urged by many intelligent seekers of the Dharma. Especially, due to the outstanding qualities of past habits, the one known as Palri Tulku Ngawang Kunzang Padma, and Merak Chöje Padma Trinley Wangchuk, who is devoted to extensive learning and renunciation, urged with earnest words. Based on this, I, Dharma Shri, a foolish mendicant living by the grace of the great Terton Chögyal Terdak Lingpa, who is the embodiment of all Buddhas of the three times, possessing immeasurable compassion and stainless wisdom, and whose name is difficult to pronounce, wrote this by hand in the Dharma school of Padma Ö Ugyen Mindrolling in the midst of the snowy mountains, the source of precious qualities, on the tenth day of the dark half of the autumn Virgo month in the Iron Dragon year (Tibetan calendar), a day of auspicious accomplishment when the constellations Gyal and Phur are in conjunction. May this also become the basis for vast benefit to the teachings and sentient beings. Om Swasti. (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སྭ་སྡི།, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svasti, Literal meaning: Om, may there be well-being!) The basis is the realm of the Sugata-garbha, the method is the continuum purified by the path, the result is the continuum connected to the four bodies, to that Lama I pay homage with respect. 1 In the delightful pure land of Akanishta, the all-pervading teacher Samantabhadra, whatever Vajrayana teachings he spoke, were collected by the secret holders. 2 In the pure lands of the sky-goers, abiding without increase or decrease, the five kinds of lineage holders and others, manifested in this land. 3 In the ocean of the thoughts of the Indian Panditas and Siddhas, Padmasambhava and Vimalamitra were completely immersed, and the translators Vairochana and Nyak Jnanakumara and others, translated and explained, dispelling the ignorance of Tibet. 4 Then Nub, Nyang, Zur, and others, the successive noble beings, with the sun of teaching, practice, and activity, Made the great secret tradition completely clear. 5 Later, for some Vidyadharas, in other than common circumstances, when the Dharma jewel was hidden, relying on the kindness of the Lama, it was obtained beyond measure, this is truly wonderful. 6 Therefore, the most excellent of all the Tripitaka Tantras, the most secret essence of the secret, the text that explains the meaning of the Tantra as it is, the essence of all the texts. 7 The Lord of Speech, the accomplished deity, from the wisdom of Chöpal Gyamtso, the wish-fulfilling jewel was born.

In the lotus garden, the adornment of the Secret Lord's intention appears. 8. That is the lineage of the Uḍḍiyāna Abbot, the island where ripening and liberation converge. The victory banner of teaching and practice is offered at the summit. 9. From this, to rain down as much Dharma as possible, Uḍḍiyāna Paljor wrote and corrected a hundred thousand, named Uḍḍiyāna Kalzang. 10. The carvers Uḍḍiyāna Dorje and Dorje Tseten, with the help of the monks, skillfully carved the Smin Grol Ling, accomplishing various years in the Dharma hall. 11. By the merit arising from this, may the glory of the abundance of Dharma and governance increase, and may all beings, through this path, dedicate themselves to attaining the state of Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra). 12. From the great treasure of good deeds like water, the sun of merit is born. May the auspiciousness of infinite benefit and happiness be completely clear. 13. Thus, the commentary on the glorious Guhyagarbha, the essence of all the tantras of the Great Secret Vajrayana, called "The Ornament of the Secret Lord's Intention," which arose from the wisdom of the great Khenpo Lotsawa Chöpal Gyamtso, a learned scholar of the five sciences, was spoken by Gyurme Dorje at the time of carving in the Water Horse year, as an aid to the hearing and contemplation of the gathering of vidyadharas and their followers of Uḍḍiyāna Smin Grol Ling.
