and their consorts. Because the four times are distinguished and generate the four faculties, they are consorts. The past is when both cause and effect have been used, which is the incense offering mother; the present is when the cause has been used but the effect has not, which is the flower mother; the future is when neither cause nor effect have been used in the assembly, which is the lamp mother; and because cause exists but has not been assembled, it is uncertain whether it is past or future, which is the assembly of scented water mothers. In short, all phenomena encompassed by the four times are clearly and unobstructed reflected in the pure faculties of the Buddhas, like a mirror, and are therefore connected as father and mother. As stated in the Avatamsaka Sutra: "Past, future, and present, all appear as they are." Secondly, the retinue of the wrathful subduer, from "the great subduer" to "abides in non-duality." He subdues everything with the great conduct of subduing the wicked, and is not overcome by external opponents, therefore he is Vajra. As stated in the Extensive Sutra: "The nature of Vajra subdues all obscurations, and cannot be overcome by anything. Self-born wisdom, the god of gods, pierces through all things." Specifically, the touch that combines the body's object, faculty, and consciousness is the nectar swirl; the faculty of touch, the body's sense organ, is Hayagriva; the object of touch is Mahabala; and the consciousness of touch, the body's consciousness, is Yama. The antidote to subduing the wicked is also born from the nature of the consort, which is the nature of phenomena that is not permanent, annihilationist, self, or characteristic, or that nature of phenomena is also the object and use of wisdom, and the four immeasurables are also the object of use, therefore they are consorts. The thought that clings to all phenomena as permanent is not as it appears spontaneously, but is the iron hook mother who gathers and guides with the loving-kindness of the pure deity in that place; similarly, it is not clinging to annihilation, but is the rope mother whose action is to gather and bind others with compassion; it is not clinging to self, but is the iron chain mother whose action is to gather and restrain with joy; it is not clinging to characteristics, but is the bell mother whose action is to gather and please with equanimity, and so on, such is the retinue of the self-appearance of the wisdom of the mind. Furthermore, in the tantras
