“心要”这个词有三种梵文表达方式:Sāra(萨ra,精华),Hṛdaya(赫利达雅,心),Garbha(嘎尔巴,藏)。

Therefore, as it is said, "One should completely rely on the hidden secret." So, what is the object of hiding? It refers to those with deluded minds. The way of hiding is: the symbolized self-nature continuum, its nature as it is, residing within itself, yet like a treasure buried underground in a poor man's house, obscured by sudden delusion and not seen, this is hiding. As it is said in the Manifest Enlightenment: "Children are obscured by ignorance, those who do not know this principle, seek the Buddha elsewhere, yet do not see the one who dwells here." This symbolizes that the profound view and practice of the unsurpassed, even if relying on one's own strength, or taught by others, cannot be understood, and therefore is hidden, like a golden man obscured by the light of a conch shell. Regarding the hidden secret, what is hidden? Hidden are the supreme view and the extraordinary meditative practices of the unsurpassed secret mantra. From whom is it hidden? It is hidden from those of the lower vehicles, and from ordinary beings, those with wrong views, and other immature beings, because these are not suitable for their understanding. If it is not hidden, relying on these, unbearable slanders and accusations will arise, causing them to fall into evil destinies, and revealing the secret will cause oneself to fall as well. How is it hidden? Through means such as symbols. As it is said in the Clear Illumination of Samaya: "Secret mantra is not flawed, it is extremely hidden for the benefit of sentient beings. Being able to keep secrets, accomplishments will not disappear, therefore various symbols are spoken for the sake of hiding." Secondly, regarding the meaning of "essence." The word "essence" has three Sanskrit expressions: Sāra (萨ra, essence), Hṛdaya (赫利达雅, heart), Garbha (嘎尔巴, womb). Sāra (萨ra, essence) is similar to the basis from which many arise from one, therefore, the symbolized self-nature continuum, from realization and non-realization, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana arise, and this continuum determines this, therefore it is also the source of all teachings, so it is the essence. As it is said: "Widely known in the ten directions, arising from the secret essence." Hṛdaya (赫利达雅, heart) means to cherish like life or the heart, no matter which vehicle one enters, ultimately one cannot deviate from this single path. Therefore, all who desire liberation should rely on it, so it is the essence. "In kalpas as numerous as grains of sand, thoroughly purified and abiding,

The entirety of the cycles of samsara and nirvana are cultivated, this is the great secret result. It is said. Garbha is like the essence within a shell. All discriminating thoughts are primordially pure as the nature of deities, therefore, the meaning of establishing the equality of samsara and nirvana is the nature of all dharmas, so it is like residing in the center, or because of the meaning of the collection of essence, it is called essence. As it is said extensively: In these great methods of realizing the supreme meaning, all the immeasurable vehicles of liberation are gathered. Also, the Vajra Garland says: The realm where all dharmas reside in the center, is pervasive and not an object of practice. It is said. Third, the meaning of thatness has three aspects: To leave the wisdom of self-origination, which is inseparable from appearance and emptiness, without being fabricated by the mind that meditates, is the thatness of the cause, because it is not misleading for the arising of the result. That same thing naturally arises as the mandala of the result, body and wisdom, and because there is no inverted dharma to be removed, it is the thatness of the result. From the wisdom of the inseparability of self-nature and truth, there is no other dharma to be known and accomplished, so there is not even a distinction between cause and effect in it, and because it is free from imputation and slander, it is the thatness of the same taste of cause and effect. Those are also from the Vajra: Cause and effect are inseparable, that nature, essence, and occasion are three. It is said. Fourth, the meaning of certainty: It is not like merely showing the means of not wasting those who are inferior vessels, but here it is certain because it shows those who are qualified and sharp faculties the meaning of how the Victorious Ones themselves understood it. As it is also said: In all the mandalas of the Victorious Ones, there is no secret definitive meaning greater than this. Furthermore, the basis lineage that has become the source of all dharmas is secret because it is difficult to realize. The special method of cultivating whatever arises as pure appearance through the gate of settling without acceptance or rejection on that faith is the lineage of the path, and it is the essence because it has become the essence of all teachings. Because the ground is unchanging and the path is not misleading in realizing it, it is thatness because the two are not inverted in meaning. Because it is established here as being free from imputation and slander, it is completely certain. The Later Tantra says: Secret is said to be the origin of dharma, essence is also its means.
