The sutra, the sutra of harmonious combination, and the sutra of essential instructions. Lord of Lanka, the sutra of self-cause management here is to show whatever is suitable as a cause in whatever way, as it is. The sutra of method insertion and mixing is to transform them by whatever method of collecting, and whatever part and guidance. Harmonious combination is to combine in this way by acting according to whatever part. The sutra of essential instructions is to cherish and protect whatever and place it. Lord of Lanka, the sutra of determining the ultimate meaning is as follows: doubt, certainty, nature, and importance. Lord of Lanka, what is doubt? It is as follows: to examine for what reason things that have arisen, and thus to recognize them for that reason. Certainty is to find the certainty of what has been determined. Self-nature is the object of what is said about what has been examined. Importance is to consider what is important by what. Lord of Lanka, these are the sutras of supreme certainty. These four sutras are the keys to liberation. Whatever door is led by whatever is used, it is liberated by it and makes itself clear. Lord of Lanka, what are the three roots? They are as follows: the root of wisdom, the root of view, and the root of method. Lord of Lanka, the root of wisdom is the thusness of suchness, without discrimination, without distinction, naturally. Lord of Lanka, the root of view is to be clear and lucid, without being confused about what is unmixed from everything. Lord of Lanka, the root of method is to be completely pure for what is complete. Lord of Lanka, these are the roots. These three roots are called the keys to opening. Whatever door is led by whatever is used, it is opened by it and makes itself clear. The forty-fifth chapter of the Great Sutra of the Collection of Intentions of All Buddhas, the Chapter on the Explanation of Arrangement. Then, the Lord of Lanka, Bodhisattva Mahasattva, asked the Lord of Secrets about the question of the two doors. O Lord of Secrets, what opens the two doors? How does one open the explanation? Replied: Lanka

The two doors of the master are like this, and this is also distinguished and clearly manifested by three kinds of keys, namely, the common limbs, sutras, and roots. Like this, the six limbs are like this: the limb of action, the limb of means, the limb of combination, the limb of behavior, the limb of wisdom, and the limb of completion. Lord of Lanka, these six limbs are also completely fulfilled by twelve limbs, and clearly explained by six limbs. What are the twelve? Like this: the limb of the door, the limb of the sacred, the limb of determination, the limb of thought, the limb of the object, the limb of recitation, the limb of combination, the limb of behavior, the limb of attainment, the limb of guidance, the limb of abiding, the limb of the ground, and the limb of view. Lord of Lanka, what are the six? Like this: the limb of cause, the limb of root, the limb of relation, the limb of guidance, the limb of determination, and the limb of combination. Lord of Lanka, these should be known in common from all to all. Lord of Lanka, those are the limbs, and it should be known that those doors are distinguished and clearly explained by those doors. Lord of Lanka, what is the sutra there? Like this: no birth, equality, suchness, and prediction without seeking. Lord of Lanka, those are other than no birth, equality, suchness, and no seeking, and whatever is not mixed is suchness. Lord of Lanka, what is the root there? Like this: what is suchness, sacredly determined, and completely grasped. Lord of Lanka, those are the roots, and it should be known how it definitely brings out those doors. Chapter Forty-Six, Explanation of the Collection, from the Great Sutra of the Gathering of the Intentions of All Buddhas. Then, the Lord of Secrets again called to the Lord of Lanka and said: Lord of Lanka, the secret door that is particularly determined from those, and opened with three keys, is also like this: The secret door of the holy ones, Of limbs, sutras, and roots, Through distinguishing, liberating, and definitely bringing out, Thus definitely seeing that suchness. Distinguishing is cause and root,
