Pure, yet everything is empty in nature, naturally uncreated, spontaneously luminous, impossible to find, and originally enlightened. If someone strives and makes effort for enlightenment, that is doing something difficult. Said: Secret Lord, then why are sentient beings and Buddhas different? Said: Lord of Lanka, that is because of conditions. Lord of Lanka, therefore, it is like this: the continuum of images, the door of arising of images, the dharani of images, the samaya of images, and the emanation of images. Lord of Lanka, for that, the cause of the image is the initial non-apprehension, that is, everything arises from nothing. Lord of Lanka, the door of arising of images is where any two gather, that is, recognizing everything from nothing. Lord of Lanka, although the image symbolizes everything, the reality neither arises nor does not arise from the image. It neither appears nor does not appear. It neither pervades nor does not pervade. For example, everyone can make a sound in the sky, but if you ask what the sky is, no one can point and say, "This is it." Lord of Lanka, similarly, the image can also symbolize the reality, but it cannot be pointed out as "This is it." Why is that? Because the image arises from the reality, it can also symbolize it, and because it is an image, it has become an object for anyone. But the reality is not an object for anyone, so it cannot be pointed out as "This is it." Therefore, the secret intention of all Buddhas is that whether a Buddha appears in the world or not, whether sentient beings become Buddhas or not, everything is originally present in its own nature and pervades everything, but it is not seen by everyone. Everything that arises from that can be known and can symbolize that itself, but that itself that arises from that cannot be pointed out as "This is it." Lord of Lanka, the dharani of the image is that whatever does not exist and is not seen can itself give rise to everything and is inseparable from anything, like this: whatever is an image, that is the reality. The reality

That which is peaceful is the image. Whatever is the essence and the image, that is the realm of secret and sacredness. Whatever is the secret and sacredness, that is the essence and the image. However, the secret and sacredness is like the ocean, and all that arises from blessings is like the waves. These two are inseparable, liberated from the two extremes, not fixated on the middle way, and seen as non-dual. That is the suchness, the dharani. Likewise, it is indivisible and indestructible, not fixated on anything, the nature of equality, the nature of immutability, the nature of space, name, word, meaning, and the dharani of secret mantras. However, the nature of the image is also the realm of non-fixation, and the nature of the essence is also the realm of non-fixation. Only that is the form of the two. The realm of non-fixation is where all beings, Buddhas, and everything else arise, and because it is their nature, it is a single, non-separate dharani. Lord of Lanka, the samaya of the image is that the image does not go beyond that which it is an image of. However it appears, it does not change or go beyond the essence. Thus, there is no arising or ceasing, no inside or outside, no gate or depth, no gathering or scattering, therefore it is samaya. Because everything does not go beyond its nature, it is called samaya. Lord of Lanka, for example, Vajrasattva, if it is the sacred intention that is the field of activity of the Buddhas, then if an image of it is placed before a fool, what does that fool think? He said: Lord of Secrets, he thinks like this: this is not Vajrasattva himself, but only a likeness of him. He said: Lord of Lanka, therefore, when seen by the sacred ones, in the realm of non-fixation, Vajrasattva and his image are not separate, not existing separately. Why is that? Because the nature of those two is suchness, that is how it is. If they were separate, then it would not be reasonable for a result to arise from conditions. The Lord of Lanka said: Lord of Secrets, are there no differences between them? He said: Lord of Lanka, in the realm of ignorance, the image and that
