Non-existent, invisible, unattainable, unrepresentable, without comparison, immeasurable, unexaminable, beyond conception, unfathomable, unthinkable, inconceivable, the source of all, the great equanimity of emptiness in all ways, the self-arisen nature of its own reason. Thus spoken, the noble beings were amazed that all phenomena were without acceptance or rejection, and became doubtful. Alas! As we have heard from the holy ones, the former holy ones take enlightenment and abandon afflictions, which is the complete understanding of wisdom. Having heard this, this great being said that there is no duality between afflictions and enlightenment, so there is no acceptance or rejection. How wonderful! They remained silent. Then, Vajrasattva, the very nature of reality, spoke again to dispel the complete conceptualization of those noble beings. O noble beings, what is the nature of afflictions that you are completely consumed by doubt? From what do they arise? What is the nature of enlightenment? From what does it arise? Be sure to realize, and doubt will be cut off in that which is completely supreme. Thus spoken, those noble beings examined what the nature of afflictions and enlightenment was and from what they arose, and they saw that their nature was emptiness, and they saw that their root arose from the mind, and arose in the mind itself, unborn and without birth, primordially as it is, spontaneously accomplished in nature, and they were certain that the root was the noble mind of enlightenment itself, and experiencing the intention of the Buddhas was like this: all mind and mental events became like the sky. Transcending abiding and not abiding, having exhaled the final breath, they completely attained true certainty. They attained it. Having completely attained the gathering of all, those noble beings remained silent again. Again, Vajrasattva, the very nature of reality, knowingly spoke to those noble beings. O noble beings, why are you? They replied: O noble spiritual friend, like the near path among paths, this is the most excellent among methods. We have not heard it before, we have little merit. Alas! A rare and wonderful dharma. This long-lasting benefit

Like (the sun). Exhausting oneself for the benefit of others, yet seeking help from others, how perplexing! Being worn out in work, distracted by chasing after appearances, toiling in vain with endless words. Gathering but unable to collect, the meaning is insignificant. From these two excellent spiritual friends, one will surely gain realization, thereby exhaling a great breath. Being equal to the Buddha and liberated in the Dharmadhatu, that itself is naturally accomplished as great. Thus they prayed. From the great joy of wonder, a light of wisdom like a million suns arose, enabling all to master the skills of reasoning and attain great meaning. The earth shook everywhere, and the yogis were amazed, each praying to their own teacher: 'What kind of omen is this wondrous sight?' The immeasurable teachers each proclaimed to their immeasurable retinues: 'O sons of noble family, this great sign is that in the realm called Vastly Extended, the spiritual friend of all Buddhas, Vajrasattva, is teaching the Dharma of the Suchness Determination of the Great Vehicle Secret Mantra. That Buddha cuts off all doubts and is the excellent spiritual friend who assures that all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will definitely attain Buddhahood. For the five excellent individuals who have not attained the determination of the secret mantra, in order to enable them to fully manifest enlightenment, cutting off their doubts and giving prophecies, these are the signs of those individuals.' Thus the teachers proclaimed. O Lord of Lanka, thus it is said that those excellent individuals, once they have realized Suchness, will surely be called the excellent individuals who are the successors to the throne of the Dharma King. In the great sutra that gathers the intentions of all Buddhas, the twelfth chapter, called "The Chapter on the Completion of the Great Breath," is complete. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the Lord of Lanka, asked this question: 'Lord of Secrets, how are those excellent individuals known in the realms of the excellent ones?' The Lord of Secrets replied: 'Lord of Lanka, those excellent individuals are widely known in the realms of the excellent ones as the excellent individuals who are the successors to the throne of the Dharma King.' Why is that? O Lord of Lanka,
