Therefore, the only Buddha of Jambudvipa has passed into nirvana. Likewise, all the emanation Buddhas of Vajrasattva, some have passed into nirvana, and some have not. When this was said, the body bodhisattva was completely convinced. The seventh chapter, which is the complete arrangement of the miraculous manifestations of Vajrasattva, from the Great Sutra of the Collection of the Intentions of All Buddhas. Then, the lord of Lanka asked: Secret Lord, what is meant by Vajrasattva? The Secret Lord replied: Lord of Lanka, Vajrasattva refers to the mandala of the mind, the clear light, the essence of mantra, just as it is. The lord of Lanka asked: O Secret Lord, what is meant by the mandala of the mind? Likewise, what is meant by clear light, the essence of mantra, and just as it is, the reality of that? The Secret Lord replied: Lord of Lanka, mind means unmade, spontaneously arising in various ways. Mandala means the very essence of whatever bindu it is. Light means appearance. Clear means that which is not obscured by anything else for one who does not know. Secret means that which cannot be spoken and is not an object of experience. Mantra means that which is spoken of as the source of qualities. Essence means the basis of the arising of all things that are without substance and invisible. Just as it is means unmade and uncorrupted. That means uncreated and unestablished. The ultimate reality means that which is unerring and unchanging. Again, the lord of Lanka asked: Secret Lord, what is meant by uncreated and unmade? What is meant by the arising of various things? The Secret Lord replied: Lord of Lanka, it is uncreated because there is no creator and it cannot be found by creation. It is unmade because the basis is as it is. Whatever continuously arises from fire and goes to different places, good and bad, and neither, appears in various ways, that itself is like the sky. That continuous arising is like clouds, mist, rainbows, and so on. Again he asked, Secret Lord

Oh, why is he called Vajrasattva? It is said that the Lord of Lanka, who is himself as he is, is without antidote in every way, without change, without birth or death, that self-nature is the self-awareness of the mind, the profound meaning is definitely explained, and the objects from which various magical powers appear are destroyed, therefore he is called Vajrasattva. The Lord of Lanka is also called the supreme Bodhicitta. The Dharma-nature of all dharmas is also called Suchness. The emptiness of the mind is also called emptiness. Transcendence of extremes is also called transcendence of extremes. Unobtainable in the Middle Way is also called unobtainable in the Middle Way. The essence of all Buddhas is also called the essence of all Buddhas. The source of all manifestations is also called the source of all manifestations. The virtuous friend of all Buddhas is also called the virtuous friend of all Buddhas. The lamp of all realms is also called the lamp of all realms. The source of compassion and means is also called the source of compassion and means. The image appearance of all dharmas is also called the image appearance of all dharmas. The Lord of Lanka, those are also established in that way for some meaning, but for Suchness itself, there is no name to establish, those should be understood as nominal designations. Lord of Lanka, therefore, Buddha is a nominal designation. Dharma is also a nominal designation. Bodhi is also a nominal designation. Similarly, space and wisdom and Dharmakaya, and different bodies, and sentient beings, and the world, etc., all that is established and clung to should be understood as merely nominal designations. Lord of Lanka, whatever is a nominal designation is suddenly established, it is not inherently possessed. Lord of Lanka, if it were inherently possessed, then all that arises suddenly would not arise. Lord of Lanka, what arises suddenly is like a cloud, it is not permanent, it is not inherently possessed, it is not tolerable to examine. Lord of Lanka, therefore, names and, symbols and terms and characteristics and, establishments and, actions and the ripening of actions, all these arise suddenly, and should be understood as arising and, ceasing and, obscuring and, purifying. Lord of Lanka, if actions and the ripening of actions, etc., were not suddenly established, then what is called Suchness would be impossible, Lord of Lanka, that Suchness is a nominal designation that is not influenced by anything, and should be understood.
