Regarding the meaning of "འདས་" (transcended). Firstly, "བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་" (bcom ldan 'das, Bhagavan, Possessing Virtue, Destroyer) means having vanquished the four maras: by holding with the union of wisdom, vanquishing the Mara of the Sons of Gods; by meditating on the five skandhas as the five families, vanquishing the Mara of the Skandhas; by proclaiming samadhi without laxity, vanquishing the Mara of Actions and Afflictions; by liberating with compassion, vanquishing the Mara of Death. On the other hand, subduing the four types of wrathful and terrifying Herukas, wrathful deities, and placing the Great God under the feet, and also by vanquishing the spine, it is called "vanquishing." Again, in one aspect, because of being powerful and authoritative in the three realms, vanquishing demons, rakshasas, Brahma, Indra, gods, nagas, and so forth, it is also called "vanquishing." "ལྡན་པ་" (possessing) means accomplishing actions from the wheel of wisdom with skillful means and wisdom, and by accomplishing actions and possessing, it is called "possessing." "འདས་པ་" (transcended) means having transcended samsara and nirvana, and is thus called "transcended." Having transcended all the lower of the nine vehicles, it is also called "transcended." Because it is the essence of the Heruka who transcends the world, it is also called "transcended." "དཔལ་ཧེ་རུ་ཀ་" (dpal he ru ka, Glorious Heruka) is said to be the glory of both self and others, because with great compassion he subdues demons and rakshasas, he is the hero of all, and he is also the glory of dakinis and yoginis, so he is called "glorious." "པདྨ་" (padma, lotus) means that the lotus is born from the mud but is not stained by the mud, and the nature of wisdom, the practice of union and liberation, is also not stained by habitual tendencies and faults. "ཧེ་རུ་ཀ་" (he ru ka, Heruka) means that he is far superior to all gods, demons, spirits, and obstacles of the world and beyond, he cannot be overcome by others, and he is powerful and authoritative, which is the essence of view and conduct. The meaning of Atiyoga is being free from seeking and transcending, and therefore he is also the first of all wrathful deities, so he is called "Heruka." That great glorious Heruka, in the abode of Akanishta, in the palace of Janglochen, the immeasurable palace accomplished from precious wisdom, possessing a thousand petals of the mother's space lotus, adorned with a vajra net, spread out below as a vajra mandala, and below that, above the ocean of blood of desire, the heap of bones of hatred, and the Mount Meru of the flesh of ignorance, is a precious eight-legged throne, and between each leg of the throne rises seven stacked suns without adhesion.
