There is no name for medicine. Even though all good things arise, Faults cause good things to arise. Whatever signs of faults may appear, If you know that they themselves are good, You do not need to cultivate goodness elsewhere. If you know that poison itself is the meaning of medicine, You do not need to seek nectar from elsewhere. If you do not realize that faults themselves are pure, And if you do not understand that effects arise from causes, Then there is no valid, definitive reason. Like a madman chasing after a shadow, Even if chased, the shadow cannot be caught. Likewise, because the cause of faults is not known, If you meditate but do not find the result, Then by examining, the nature of reality is mistaken for substance. By accomplishing, it does not appear as substance, Likewise, having the nature of a madman. Therefore, familiarize yourself with this meaning. The mind of enlightenment is also the cause of faults. If you do not know this cause of faults, Who has this cause of qualities? Not knowing this cause of faults, Unknowing is the treasury of the expanse. There is nothing greater than it. The cause of faults is the duality of grasping and conception. If grasping and conception are skillful means and wisdom, Then there is nothing greater than the cause of faults. The cause of faults is the five afflictions. When the afflictions appear as the five wisdoms, Then there is nothing greater than the cause of faults. The cause of faults is the two extremes of permanence and annihilation. If permanence and annihilation are the expanse and wisdom, Then there is nothing greater than the cause of faults. Even the explanation of body and wisdom, Apart from the cause of faults, There is nothing else to explain. The teaching of the meaning of true certainty, Without coming, without going, without changing, Buddhahood and enlightenment are in that. Without fabrication, without non-fabrication, Wisdom and the nature of reality are in that. Without deception, without seeking, equally abiding, Equal wisdom is in that. The cause of purity, clear from the beginning. The limit of accomplishment, known from within. The path of liberation, placed on the ground. The cause of knowledge, trained in the mind. The path of seizing and directing, established in the bindu. Samantabhadra, the Bhagavan, Know it and keep it in your mind. The cause of faults is great from the beginning. Whatever accords with the tantras of yoga, If you wish to understand that the cause of faults is great, Then seek it in this chapter. The twelfth chapter, "The Cause of Faults is Great from the Beginning," is complete. Then, the Blessed One spoke thus about the cause of qualities being great from the beginning. In the nature of great qualities, It is explained in this way that it is purity itself. The qualities of all the Buddhas, Arise from my mind.

My body is immutable. My speech is uncreated. My mind is unwavering. My actions are exceedingly special. My play is skilled in means. My blessings are uncompounded. My power subdues grasping and thought. I have no name called 'I'. Without I, without self, without direction. The wisdom without grasping or thought is vast. The wisdom without permanence or annihilation dawns. Because of the qualities that are great from the beginning, There is no Buddha above this. Before there was samsara, There was not even the name of nirvana. Within samsara itself, the qualities are great. Before there were lower realms, There was not even the name of higher realms. Within the lower realms themselves, the qualities are great. Beyond sentient beings, There was not even the name of Buddha. Within sentient beings themselves, the qualities are great. Beyond afflictions, There was not even the name of wisdom. Within afflictions themselves, the qualities are great. Beyond phenomena, There was not even the name of dharmata. Within phenomena themselves, the qualities are great. From the lineage of perfect purity, Self-appearance as the result from the very beginning, The nature of the noble ones is complete in the lineage. The body that is the gathering of all Buddhas, This is the lineage of great qualities. It is the meaning of being great from the beginning, All the Buddhas of the ten directions, And all the gods of the Bodhisattvas, Whatever male, female, or hermaphrodite bodies there are, Only as a door measured by delusion, For the sake of showing to those of inferior wisdom, It only appears to the confused mind. In the nature of Samantabhadra, The nature of Bodhicitta is, Not male, not female, not hermaphrodite. Not big, not small, not lineage. Not permanent, not annihilated, not a sign. Not outer, not inner, not a thing. There is no showing of caste or color. Not non-existent, but the meaning of essence. The yogis with meaning realize this. It is clear to the mind that has meaning. In that which is completely pure in its nature, There is no remedy to apply, it is immeasurable. In that which is completely peaceful in its characteristics, Those with realization see it clearly with valid cognition. In that which has no distinction between cause and effect, One grasps at characteristics and divides into categories. It contradicts the meaning and is difficult to fathom. If one's own mind is unborn from the beginning, Then there is no place to transmigrate or change. There is no ground to search for or accomplish. It is not non-existent, but an unchanging body. In the very space where there is no gathering or separation, There is no conceptual thought of accepting or rejecting good or bad. There is no distinction of big or small, order or sequence.
