I am the cause of suffering, like hell-beings, hungry ghosts, and animals. The meaning of Yana is also the same. Because the number of afflictions is endless, the number of Yanas is also endless. Because one attains meaning by relying on it, that is called Yana. Because it is spontaneously accomplished without coming, it is called Mahayana. From the "Great Jewel Expanding Sutra": Chapter Eight, "The Nature of Mahayana." Samantabhadra, the secret empowerment Vajrasattva, asked the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, about the appearance of the Dharmakaya realm, the appearance of the Sambhogakaya realm, and the appearance of the Nirmanakaya realm. The Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, revealed to the secret empowerment Vajrasattva the appearance of the Dharmakaya realm: Outer purity is the intention of Samantabhadra, inner purity is the intention of Samantabhadri, and the indivisible purity of Vajrasattva is also the pure Dharmakaya realm. The impure Dharmakaya realm is the container and contents that rely on the element of earth, the container and contents that rely on the element of water, the container and contents that rely on the element of fire, the container and contents that rely on the element of wind, the container and contents that rely on the power of the elements, the container and contents that rely on the radiance of the elements, and the container and contents that rely on the element of space. Without differentiation, it is also the Dharmakaya realm. The appearance of the Buddhas' Dharmakaya is inconceivable and inexpressible, but like a clear mirror, naturally pure and without stains, whatever is reflected in it, its image appears as it is. To illustrate with a brief analogy, there are three ways of appearing: appearing without inherent existence is the appearance of the Dharmakaya; clear and without conceptualization is the appearance of wisdom; the appearance of various habitual tendencies is the appearance of sentient beings. Apart from the body, there is no other appearance. The appearance of outer, inner, and inner-outer is the Dharmadhatu. The Sambhogakaya realm is: To illustrate with a brief analogy: the self-arisen Sambhogakaya, the retinue Sambhogakaya, and the illusory Sambhogakaya. The nature Sambhogakaya

The nature of the Rupakaya, not sought from elsewhere, is spontaneously and perfectly accomplished. All qualities appear complete. The blessings of the body manifest as the five wisdoms. From the five wisdoms, the five Tathagata families arise. The nature of the Sambhogakaya, since the mind itself appears as anything, therefore, Vairochana is spontaneously accomplished. Since there is no change in the mind, Vajrasattva is spontaneously accomplished. Since everything arises from the mind, Ratnasambhava is spontaneously accomplished. Since everything appears in the mind, Amitabha is spontaneously accomplished. Since the mind performs all actions, Amoghasiddhi is spontaneously accomplished. Relying on the five uncontaminated aggregates, is the Tathagata's nature of the wisdom body. That great, all-pervading pure realm, has power over the uncontaminated lotus mandala. That is the mandala of the great wheel of the complete collection of letters, appearing as a great realm of complete purity. Having obtained the wisdom empowerment, inner signs and countless qualities appear externally. For the Sugatas who move in that realm, appearance itself accomplishes benefit and bliss spontaneously. The Sambhogakaya of illusory appearance, also in the karma and habitual tendencies of sentient beings, appearances such as marks and signs arise. Like the lords of the three families, it accomplishes the activities of the family itself. What is inconceivable and beyond thought, is the great realm of great purity. The great realm of self-nature purity, is the realm that appears as the five wisdoms. The blissful realm of family purity itself, is the realm that practices on the grounds and paths. The way the Nirmanakaya's realm appears, the nature of the Nirmanakaya itself, since everything is the Nirmanakaya, therefore, relying on that, all actions can be accomplished. The Nirmanakaya who guides, appears there as whatever is desired. The Nirmanakaya of those to be tamed, appears in peaceful and wrathful forms. Appearing as a nature from no nature, that is called the Nirmanakaya. From the power of different ways of seeing, different appearances arise, but if that is not realized, there is no other appearance. All those to be tamed are the realm of the Nirmanakaya. From the Great Extensive Jewel Garland Tantra: The Ninth Chapter, the Chapter on the Three Kayas and Realms. The secret empowerment of gathering, Vajrasattva, to the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, of body, speech, and mind...
