Since the essence is primordially pure, the power of the Dharmakaya is uninterrupted. Due to the uninterrupted qualities, everything appears. From grasping the appearing limbs as objects, the appearing phenomena become the basis for delusion. That basis possesses three qualities. From the gathering of similarities, commonalities, and resemblances, the habitual tendencies of delusion appear due to the arising of mind-based consciousness. Those habitual tendencies obscure the body and wisdom. Abiding in that is called delusion. It is not that the body itself is obscured by the delusion of others. The essence of what is called delusion is that it is delusion because it grasps what is not as what is, having abandoned what is. For example, like grasping a stump as a person, or like the thought of a snake arising from a rope. The delusion that arises from the cause itself is because one does not understand the body and what arises from the body, and one grasps them as appearing separately. Due to the grasping habitual tendencies, similarities and commonalities, grasping as two is called delusion. For example, the essence of the sun, the light of the sun, is also called delusion because it is grasped as light and sun. One does not recognize that it arises from that and that. The delusion that arises from other conditions is because the nature of the body does not exist in the object, but it is delusion because one deliberately grasps it as an object. For example, like a mirage of a collection of water, like seeing water even though it is not there. The delusion of the result, ignorance, is because all phenomena are non-dual, but the outer and inner vessel and essence appear as two. The habitual tendencies of that appear as the three realms of samsara, like seeing non-existent things such as hair moons. May the jewel increase.

Me. Clinging to the habitual imprints of what is grasped and looking, It appears as the two, object and subject. From the Great Extensive Jewel Tantra, the Nineteenth Chapter: A Summary of Delusion. That Vajrasattva, the Lord of Secrets who gathers, To the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, The Dharmakaya, self-born wisdom without awareness, Its qualities appear unceasingly in any way. Those qualities that appear as one aspect, The Dharmakaya is clear, pure, unmoving, unchanging, and unbroken. From the individual appearances of its qualities, What are the five kinds of color manifestations that arise? That Samantabhadra, the Teacher of Teachers, To that Vajrasattva, the Lord of Secrets who gathers, Brightness is seen as white. Purity is seen as red. Immovability is seen as blue. Unchangeability is seen as black. Thinking it is the unchangeable earth, it is grasped as earth, The habitual imprint of grasping, solidity, appears as earth. Thinking it is the bright fire, it is grasped as fire, The habitual imprint of grasping, ripeness, appears as fire. Thinking it is the pure water, it is grasped as water, The habitual imprint of grasping, gathering, appears as water. Thinking it is the unmoving wind, it is grasped as wind, The habitual imprint of grasping, moving, is grasped as wind. What is unbroken is grasped as space, The habitual imprint of grasping, opening, appears as space. Those of the same kind, similar, gathering and assembling, The five elements and the five colors also, When arising and arising and arising and abiding, Form and feeling, perception and, Formation and consciousness also, Are the same and from that is delusion. Desire, hatred, ignorance and, Pride, jealousy, the five also, The same basis arises from that. Form and sound, smell and taste, Touch and all the objects, Are delusion from one field and karma. From the Great Extensive Jewel Tantra, the Twentieth Chapter: The Root Basis of Delusion. That Vajrasattva, the Lord of Secrets who gathers, To the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, All these appearances that are established as essence, Male, female, hermaphrodite, each with their own nature, How does the body delude, in what way does it delude? That Samantabhadra, the Teacher of Teachers, To that Vajrasattva, the Lord of Secrets who gathers, That self-born wisdom, the limb of awareness that arises, When it moves after not having moved before, Awareness itself...
