The happiness and suffering of both samsara and nirvana are distinguished; the one word of the key point of the essential instruction is the single certainty. Thus it was said. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, Single Certainty, All-Liberating Great, the ninth chapter, the preliminary instruction. Self-Arisen Wisdom Vajra again requested: Emaho! Bhagavan, spontaneously accomplished, uncreated glory, thus, having completed the preliminary instructions, how will you show the essential instructions of the main practice? Please explain this to the assembled retinue. Having requested thus, the Bhagavan spoke: In the meaning of the essential instructions of the main practice, the signs of the four empowerments manifest as the four experiences of appearance. Through the four key points of practice, the nature of realization is introduced, and the result of liberation, the four kayas, is spontaneously accomplished. Undifferentiated, naked, most secret, the meaning of single certainty. Although it transcends all names, words, and terms, if it is not shown with names, words, and signs, it will not be understood. Therefore, for individuals of superior, middling, and inferior capacity, the instructions of signs and key points are shown with words. For individuals of superior capacity, the showing with signs is: All appearances arise from the mind. Therefore, in order to realize the single certainty of mind itself, request the empowerment of appearance with elaboration from the lama. Make the request at the time of sunrise. The lama arranges the mandala at sunrise. On a lotus with eight petals and a single center, draw a beautiful outline with five colors. In the center of that, place a vase with ornaments, flowers, a beautiful tsok offering, torma, and offerings. Please the lama, the Three Jewels, and the dakinis. Then the student, wearing clothes, prostrates and, with palms joined, makes this request: Emaho! Kunsang Lama, supreme emanation body, from now on, I respectfully make requests. In the mandala of appearance, great bliss, free from elaboration, please grant the empowerment to realize manifest awareness. Thus, make the request three times. Then the teacher asks: Son of a faithful family, are you willing to enter the Dharma of the Great Perfection? The student should answer: I am willing. Then the student is given the oath: After you have abandoned samsara with your mind, do not, in the meaning of uncreated manifestation, vow to look at the self-arisen mandala. If you break this oath, you will be ruined. Thus, the oath water of vajra nectar is poured. Breaking the oath is breaking with demons, not breaking with medicine. Therefore, take the oath by drinking nectar. Then

Ask what the mandala shows. If the habitual tendencies are not cut off, the appearances can be liberated. Look at this mandala with one-pointed eyes. To introduce the meaning of the symbols: The eight lotus petals emanating from one center are symbols of the eight consciousnesses arising from the mind. The various white, red, and other colors that appear are symbols of appearances not ceasing and appearing again. The various images that appear in the mandala are symbols of everything arising from bodhicitta. The various vase-like substances placed inside are symbols of the various thoughts gathering in the mind. The ornaments, flowers, offerings, and tormas are shown as symbols of appearances being the mind's enjoyment. Then, the lama will ask: Child, who are you? Answer: I am a son of a fortunate lineage. The lama asks: What do you wear this garment for? Answer: To wear on the body. The lama asks: What does wearing depend on? Answer: It arises depending on the body. Similarly, these appearances also arise from the mind. Although appearances are various, they are one in the mind. Therefore, understand the meaning of the mind as awareness. Through these symbols, instruction and empowerment are given. Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). In the vast expanse of the unborn dharmakaya mandala, may the deities of the vase, the unimpeded appearances, bless the appearances to be brought under control through the vajra chain of direct manifestation. Through this empowerment of symbolic appearances, the disciple offers gifts and holds a great feast. In order to understand the various appearances as one, offer horses, elephants, jewels, grains, etc., to the lama. By offering supreme wealth, one will realize the supreme meaning. If a person of middling capacity cannot be liberated through symbols, then the key instructions on the definitive view are: The key to the body is the posture, taking the vajra posture. To realize the natural state, being upright is important. The breath of speech is to not speak, being silent is important. To liberate the deluded appearances, being unspoken is important. The way of looking with the mind is to restrain awareness in the eyes. To see directly, look at the expanse of the sky. This is the great view of not looking, unborn and unceasing, the nature of the sky. The outer sky is the pure primordial clarity, the inner mind is the pure self-clarity, and the intermediate energy is the impure essential clarity. The three are mixed without separation, like the sky. What is seen is the nature of reality, the direct appearance. Through the three awarenesses and three meanings, without doubt, awareness itself
