Even if it is the cause to become a Buddha, One will not become a Buddha without practice. Before practice, what needs to be done, If the gate of empowerment is not opened, Then one will not know how to practice like a blind person, Although one wants to practice, one does not see the meaning. Without empowerment, there is no accomplishment, Like squeezing oil from sand, there is none. Who can strike the sky with a fist? Like a fool beating an empty leather bag. Having received empowerment, one obtains both common and supreme, One obtains self-awareness, wisdom, and qualities. Like a king on the head of a royal family, It is the same as receiving empowerment. One who has not manifested oneself, A teacher without qualities, Even if he performs rituals and so on, If the disciple does not receive with respect, Then one will not receive the supreme empowerment, Or it may give rise to common qualities. One cannot go on the path with this mantra. A Lama with qualities, Even if he does not perform rituals and so on, Whoever has faith and respect, He will also obtain its qualities. Whoever has faith and respect pleases all Buddhas, Whatever one prays for, one will obtain. The sons of the Buddhas never turn back. A Khenpo who does not meet the requirements, The offerings and samadhi rituals are wrong, The receiver has no respect, Does not keep vows and acts perversely. Empowerment and non-empowerment are the same, without result. Even if one washes a corpse with vase water, Its obscurations will not be purified. Even if one gives away empowerment substances as large as a mountain, There is not even a dust particle of merit in it. Like pouring water into a bottomless vessel. A lower class of people who are not qualified, Both teacher and student will decline. A mantra practitioner who is learned and meaningful, A qualified mandala master, Whichever lineage the disciple relies on, Examining and scrutinizing is just relying. All Buddhas of the three times, The wisdom awareness of the mind stream is transferred, One obtains self-mastery with just awareness. This is the supreme king of empowerment. Abandoning evil and doing good is for one's own benefit. From the vehicle of worldly gods, Those who desire liberation through the gate of the Four Noble Truths, The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, Starting from the common refuge, With the eight kinds of Pratimoksha vows, By guarding the precepts for one's own benefit, After stabilizing the basis of what has been learned, Through the gate of the two truths, The meaning of Madhyamaka in Yoga practice, After entering the gate of the Great Vehicle, Practicing the two Bodhicittas for the benefit of others, Paying homage to the non-dual truth, Those who wish to enter the meaning of mantra,

He observes the three lineages in their entirety. He who holds the three lineages is a holder of secret mantras. To dispel ignorance, there are knowledge mantras, The mantras of the outsiders, the other shore crossers. Without straying from the path, there are retention mantras, The mantras that enter the inner tantras. The great bliss of self-awareness and wisdom, Is attained in this very life. Therefore, to those of small mind and inferior vehicles, And those who view things perversely, Secret mantras are called secret because they are hidden from demons. All the collections of scriptures and tantras, Are made definitive. The essence is the meaning of supreme wisdom. Those who wish to enter the Dharma without error, Before there is a lama, There is no place where Buddhahood arises. The first Buddha is the lama. The lama is the self-arisen Buddha, The body that embodies all Buddhas, The very essence of Vajradhara. The nature of the Three Jewels, Complete enjoyment within the Dharmakaya. Appearing in various forms, He benefits beings according to their needs. Especially in the world of gods and humans, The Vajradhara is in the form of a human. The teacher appears in the form of an ordinary person. That which arises from the secret mantra, The lama is the supreme of the great secret mantra. Worthy of offerings, worthy of praise, a place of reverence, Always worthy of service. The best of lamas, worthy of reverence, Is peaceful, gentle, and possesses good qualities. By generating the mind of equanimity, He bestows fearlessness upon all sentient beings. The wise understand what is to be known, Possessing the nature of emptiness and compassion. Knowing the union of mantra and tantra, Skilled in the activities of mandalas and wheels. Arising from the great principle of secret mantra, Possessing the nature of the great principle of secret mantra, He becomes the teacher of all. Since there is no Dharma that does not arise from the lama, Resolve in the presence of the lama. If there is no respect for the lama, Even if one practices, it will not be accomplished. Therefore, with all respect, Make the lama's body, speech, and mind pleased. Whatever devotion and respect the sons of the Victorious One have, The innate, co-emergent wisdom arises. Whatever lama or Buddha one practices, That is transformed by the power of devotion and respect. The lama is the lord of all mandalas, The assembly of deities of the great self. All supreme and common accomplishments, All arise from the supreme lama. The wish-fulfilling jewel that fulfills desires, Whoever connects with it has meaning. To the lama's body or image, Offering and praising
