Grasping at appearance as one. In the emptiness of the non-dual essence, There is no need to obstruct the realization of appearance. Like an illusion, things are not truly existent. Illusion is unreal, the form of emptiness. To be afraid of this is a delusion. Emptiness without appearance, Is a deluded person with a nihilistic view. Appearance without emptiness, Is a person with an eternalistic grasping. Has strayed onto the wrong path. When appearing, it is empty; when empty, it appears. Appearance and emptiness are like the moon in water, Inseparable even for a moment. All who think clarity and emptiness are separate, Are deluded minds grasping at duality. Having strayed onto the wrong path, Therefore, one cannot reach the true ground. Not abiding in union, For what is labeled as emptiness, The blind try to grasp the emptiness of the sky. Likewise, for the emptiness free from extremes, The ignorant cling to one side. In the self-radiance of appearance and emptiness, Fools grasp at characteristics. The union of non-dual appearance and emptiness, Is highly praised as Bodhicitta. Essence is free from elaboration, beyond extremes, It is the meaning beyond mind, free from mental fabrication. For this abiding nature, Bodhicitta, The mind of ignorance itself, Merely names the phenomena of appearance and emptiness. Having named them, each collection of realizations, Reveals the two, appearance and emptiness, of relative phenomena. Appearances are grasped as substantial characteristics, Emptiness is grasped as without characteristics or objects. The deluded mind grasping separately, For the nature of mind free from grasping, It is merely imputation, in reality, it is one. The appearance of samsara empties nirvana, The appearance of nirvana empties samsara. The appearance of non-duality empties dualistic grasping, The appearance of dualistic grasping empties non-duality. Likewise, the appearance of happiness empties suffering, The appearance of suffering empties happiness. The appearance of afflictions empties wisdom, The appearance of wisdom empties afflictions. The appearance of conventional truth empties ultimate truth, The appearance of ultimate truth empties conventional truth. The appearance of things empties non-things, The appearance of non-things empties things. The appearance of non-virtue empties virtue, The appearance of what is to be cultivated empties what is to be abandoned, The appearance of what is to be abandoned empties what is to be cultivated. The appearance of signs empties signlessness, The appearance of objectlessness empties signlessness. The appearance of not being empties being, The appearance of being empties not being. The appearance of self-grasping empties other, The appearance of other empties self.

The appearance of existence empties non-existence, The appearance of non-existence empties existence. The appearance of truth empties non-truth, The appearance of non-truth empties truth. The appearance of sentient beings empties Buddha, The appearance of Buddha empties sentient beings. Thus, qualities, faults, good, and bad, Are distinguished separately by dependence. Even when examined with antidotes, appearance and emptiness are two, But for even a moment, they are inseparable and one. In the simultaneous unity free from all elaboration, The dualistic destruction is a mistaken dharma. Many are tormented by suffering, Wandering in samsara without end or increase. When the dharmas of union are realized, Samsara is liberated into nirvana. It is the enjoyment of non-duality, Primordially so, not suddenly. In the naturally arising meaning, there is no artifice. The appearances and emptiness are impermanent. All conceptions, with and without signs, Are appearances of body, speech, and mind. The realization of the body is clear direct perception, The conception of the mind is the arising of memory-appearance. The appearance of speech is the word that is spoken. All outer and inner arise from that. All appearances of that and those, Ultimately converge on the single nature of mind. Since there is no entity in the mind, The three, body, speech, and mind, are empty in nature. When the mind is empty, the body is also empty. Since emptiness is not merely emptiness, That mind appears as body, speech, and mind. When the clinging to appearance is pacified, It is not called "emptiness." The nature of mind is clear light, When names are assigned to appearances, Enlightenment arises for the Buddhas. The afflictions of samsaric beings, If their nature is known, are actual wisdom. Unknowing is grasping at mind, Knowing is the meaning of dharmata. In the dharmakaya, which is without birth or cessation, Emptiness is merely a label. The impure mind is samsara, The pure mind is nirvana. In the state of non-duality, Appearance and emptiness, and so forth, Though much is said, are merely elaboration. The true meaning is one and without duality, That one is also free from elaboration. Likewise, that suchness is not realized, There is nothing that can be altered by another. It is clear light, spontaneously accomplished, and immutable. For example, in the center of the sun, Whether clouds obscure it or not, Like the arising of clarity and non-clarity, It is only a difference of non-realization. But in meaning, there is no interruption of clarity or dimness. Awareness is self-luminous Vajradhara, Solid, essential, and without hollowness. All-pervading, it is without limit, And does not abide even in the Middle Way.
