Now, the body of wisdom light, possessing the thirty-two marks, the great mandala of the five aggregates, clear, radiant, beautiful, and glorious, the light-womb is the Sambhogakaya. The ultimate characteristic is the complete perfection of the four habitual tendencies. The aggregates, elements, and sense bases, along with the eight consciousnesses and the mind, I have shown as the habitual tendency-womb. The essence of the three wombs is said to be the three kayas mentioned above. The reason for calling it a womb is that it serves as the basis for dwelling. Womb is a general term. The individual definitions are: the precious womb that gives rise to all qualities; the light-womb because it appears but has no inherent nature, illustrated by examples such as the moon in water, reflections in a mirror, and rainbows. The power of conceptual thought is strengthened, it is the habitual tendency-womb. Thus it is said. From the great, all-illuminating bindu, the teaching on the womb is the eighty-first chapter. Then, again, the Lord of Secrets asked: Alas, alas, Bhagavan Vajradhara! In the tantras and agamas spoken by the Teacher, the various appearances that are taught, please explain their meaning. Thus he asked. The Teacher replied: Vajrapani, well done, well done! I will explain the nature and definition of appearances, and the examples of their individual distinctions. First, there are two types of distinctions: extensive and concise. The extensive one has four aspects: the six appearances of attachment to the six realms, the ten appearances of cause and effect mind, the one appearance of the meaning of realization, and the four appearances of indivisible Samantabhadra. The concise appearances have three aspects: impure, deluded appearances, pure worldly appearances, and true wisdom appearances. First, the extensive explanation: The six appearances of attachment to the six realms. In the unobstructed mandala of knowable objects, beings in hell see two things: heat and cold. Hungry ghosts have three appearances: external, internal, and common. Externally, food appears as pus and blood, and clothing appears as thorns. For some, food appears, protected by guardians; for others, there is no protection, and eating it is poisonous. Similarly, hungry ghosts have three appearances. Animals have two appearances: dwelling in the depths appears as darkness, and dwelling in scattered places appears as upward and downward. Humans, the common appearance is just like this: their own country, people, family, neighbors, and so on. Asuras see weapons, and gods see jewels and nectar.

Appearances. Mental appearances are the imprints of attachment. Cause and effect are the ten appearances of the mind. The eternal appearances of the tirthikas are also. Other than these eternal things, nothing else appears. The annihilationist appearances of the tirthikas are also. This exists, the next does not, This appearance itself arises suddenly, And dissolves into the nature of the five elements upon destruction. No other annihilationist appearance appears. The Shravakas, like the yak tail and the ne'u seng, View the aggregate as indivisible. The grasped and the grasper appear as the self of phenomena. The self-realized ones see the aggregate as the same, one side empty. The skandhas and dhatus are selfless on one side. The Sutra school ultimately sees emptiness, Conventionally, it appears as mere illusion. The inner and outer tantras, Ultimately agree with the Sutra school, But conventionally, appearances are seen differently. The Kriya sees the three families as master and servant. The Upa sees the deities and master and servant. The Yoga sees brothers and friends. The Maha sees the skandhas appearing as deities. The Anu sees the dhatus and wisdom. All do not abandon cause and effect, And unreal things appear to the mind. Cause and effect are the appearances of the mind. The appearances of meaning for those with realization are, The appearances of Dzogchen realization. All is seen as the essence of the Dharmakaya. The appearance of Kuntuzangpo is, The same as the above, a non-dual appearance. It is the way the initial ground appearance abides. In short, there are three kinds of appearances. The impure, deluded appearances are the six realms mentioned above. The appearances of the pure realms are the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis. The true wisdom appearance is the same as the ground appearance above. The distinctions of appearances are explained in detail and in brief. The nature of appearances is explained, Understand the distinctions from above. It is not enough to say just a little below. The nature of true certainty is, The definitions of Dharmata, radiance, and appearances are: Because it is seen unobstructed in the object, it is considered an appearance. The examples are explained within the category of distinctions. Here, examples of certainty are explained: Like the appearance of rays from the sun, Like the appearance of light from a butter lamp, It appears and abides in its own radiance. Likewise, from great wisdom, Wisdom's own radiance, clear and transparent, appears. Wisdom abides in its own radiance. The examples of the purity of Dharmata are explained: Like the appearance in a mirror and so on, It has been said above, so it is not mentioned here. In short, there are three places of abiding. Thus it is said. From the Great Luminous Bindu, the meaning of appearance is summarized and clarified.
