All the dharmas of samsara are the mind that grasps at its own characteristics, all the appearances of the six realms of beings, each with its own karma. Hey! Great Bodhisattva, if the essence of mind and wisdom is not distinguished, it is like the sun obscured by clouds, unable to function outwardly. Therefore, yogis who are skilled in mind realize that external objects are without self. Yogis who are skilled in wisdom are able to control wisdom with awareness itself. Again, it was asked: Hey! Teacher Samantabhadra, where is the place of mind? Where is the place of wisdom? Please explain. Then it was said again: Hey! Great Bodhisattva, the place of mind is the Alaya. Why is that? Because the Alaya gathers all objects of thought and recognizes them as mind. The place of wisdom is the Dharmakaya. Why is that? Because the Dharmakaya does not possess all thoughts and distinctions, and there is no knowing that grasps at objects. Bodhisattva, Great Bodhisattva, Light Radiating Boundlessly, therefore, if the Alaya and the Dharmakaya are not distinguished, it is like holding one form as different, unable to manifest their respective functions. Thus, what appears and what does not appear, what exists and what does not exist, there is nothing that is not pervaded by mind. Thus, in the vast expanse of Dharmata, all things that appear as different dharmas converge into one, the place remains unchanged and self-abiding, the path remains unchanged and self-arising, the object remains unchanged and self-expanding, the appearance remains unchanged and self-expanding, this is the activity of Samantabhadra, my own. Hey! Great Bodhisattva, in the Dharmakaya like the sky, the Sambhogakaya like a collection of stars naturally arises, the Nirmanakaya like clouds naturally gathers, benefiting all beings without interruption. This is the activity of the Buddhas, and the self-activity of all beings, the essence is the same but the difference is great. Thus, Samantabhadra I have declared. Whoever is familiar with this has the same merit as Samantabhadra I. Thus, in the Great Secret Tantra of the Six Realms of Samantabhadra, the chapter on establishing various elaborations as the realm of mind, the third chapter is complete. Logakvamaag.: The chapter called the pure place of human birth.

Is the third. Then, the teacher Samantabhadra himself. Having arisen from the samadhi called the complete purification of the mind's defilements, which is the remembrance of the appearances of all the Buddhas, he spoke these words in the circle of speech called the Lion's Utmost Affection, which is invisible. I am the beginning of samsara, the inexhaustible, continuous awareness abiding in self-grasping. Therefore, I am also self-born at the end of all samsaric beings, and I am called the yogi who understands the meaning of exhaustion as the only one. O you Buddhas and Bodhisattvas assembled in my retinue, as well as Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, gods, humans, asuras, and so on, be skilled in determining the beginning and end of samsara itself. After proclaiming these words, from within that retinue, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Sunlight Gathering Rays, requested the teacher Samantabhadra as follows: O, O, teacher Samantabhadra, do all the Buddhas have a way of determining the beginning and end of samsara? Is it the teacher himself who determines the beginning and end of samsara? I wish to hear the teacher's words. Then, the teacher Samantabhadra replied: O Bodhisattva Mahasattva Sunlight Gathering Rays, listen. What is called determining the beginning and end of samsara is that just as I have determined it, so have all the Buddhas determined it. Just as all the Buddhas have determined it, so have I also determined it; there is no difference. Likewise, Bodhisattva Mahasattva, you should also realize this. When I, Samantabhadra, have completely pacified all elaborations and become enlightened without rival, having found the eye free from the dust of all dharmas, and having seen the infinite realms everywhere, when the appearances of outer and inner have merged without difference, having attained the samadhi of pure space, at that time it is called determining the beginning and end of samsara. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Sunlight Gathering Rays, requested the teacher Samantabhadra as follows: O teacher Samantabhadra, before the teacher himself first appeared, the names of beings and beings were not established, and the names of Buddhas and Buddhas were not established.

Previously, how does this basis exist? If I do not understand this, please may the teacher explain it. Thus I requested. Then the teacher spoke: Alas! Bodhisattva Mahasattva, I will explain, listen to me. The primordial, spontaneously accomplished realization is Buddha. Non-realization is sentient beings. The basis of the primordial basis. Existence is the only essence from non-existence. From the aspects that appear as illusion, all is seen. If the collection of thoughts and wisdom is completely refuted, from the perspective of the mind, it appears as seven levels. The appearance of the seven levels is also a manifestation of the activity of the great essence of primordial purity. Because the one primordial purity is not known, it appears in this way. However, expressing its meaning in words is as follows: The basis, abiding in the desired state of spontaneous accomplishment, appears as the essence of the collection of various elements. The basis, abiding in the desired state of uncertainty, appears as the moving mind. The basis, abiding in the desired state of certainty, appears as the unchanging memory. The basis, abiding in the desired state of being able to transform into anything, appears as the effort of the mind. The basis, abiding in the desired state of being able to take on the essence of anything, appears as the essence of whatever appears. The basis, abiding in the desired state of being mottled or various, appears as various individual ways. This is the arising of qualities from the essence of primordial purity, the nature of spontaneous accomplishment. From the place where primordial purity abides, it appears as being without defilement from the beginning. Spontaneous accomplishment and so on, all of this is from the levels of the mind. The light of this self-essence is pure from the beginning. All those six spoken of are merely their names. Or because of existence appearing as non-existence, in reality it appears according to the levels of the illusory mind. Therefore, it appears in this way. Like the rays of the gathered sun. Also, please may the teacher explain how to understand this. Alas! Teacher Samantabhadra (Kuntuzangpo). The reality of "wanting spontaneous accomplishment," is it definitely a basis that can only be self-arisen or not self-arisen? Or is it merely the basis of the way of appearance? Relying on this, is this the nature, thereby gaining meaning? Or can it be understood from this itself, is accepting one's own essence one's own or not? Please may the teacher tell me all of this. The teacher said: Great Bodhisattva, I have explained, you hold it well. Its meaning is also as follows: This itself is what should be understood.
