Having abandoned this very place and time, the mind rests in the expanse of space. This body rests in the elements. It abides in the realm of utter emptiness. Even when arising, it arises from the very nature of space. Even when dissolving, it dissolves into the very nature of space. Everything is utterly empty. This is the doctrine of the Particularists (Samkhya). This is the second chapter on distorted views. The tenets of Kumara are held as follows: It is believed to be a body without mind. The body has no mind. That is without mind. When it emerges, there is no body either. When both body and mind are absent, it is believed to be utterly empty. Does the body remain when there is no mind? There is no mind, and the body does not exist either. Thus it is said. This is the doctrine of Kumara. This is the third chapter on distorted views. The tenets of those who speak falsely are: All views, conduct, meditation, and accomplishment go into delay. The view is without anything to be seen. Meditation is without anything to be done. Conduct is without anything to be practiced. The result is unmade and unproduced. Upward, one does not aspire to Buddhahood. Downward, one does not fear samsara. In between, virtue and vice do not cause benefit or harm. This is the doctrine of falsehood. This is the fourth chapter on distorted views. The tenets of the Whisperers are as follows: Phenomena are seen as temporarily permanent, but ultimately, phenomena are considered impermanent. The phenomena of future lives are considered permanent as the retinue of Ishvara. This is the doctrine of the Whisperers. This is the fifth chapter on distorted views. The tenets of the secret teaching of the Five Fires are: A person abiding in this realm of manifestation by the Buddhas, without attachment, burns with fire, and the appearance of the five wisdoms is awakened. It is seen by subtle direct perception. It is the practice of the five fires. That is, after anointing a sandalwood tree with sesame oil, dividing the fire pile into five directions—four sides and the center—burning one's own body, it is believed that whichever direction one falls, one obtains the fruit of each wisdom. That is the doctrine of the Five Fires. This is the sixth chapter on distorted views. The tenets of the Fire-Wearers are as follows: After soaking cotton cloth in sesame oil, wrapping one's own body and setting it on fire, standing before the image of Ishvara, it is believed that one obtains the fruit of clear light and is freed from cherishing one's own body. This is the doctrine of the Fire-Wearers. This is the seventh chapter on distorted views. The tenets of the Three-Pointed Spear

It is like this: the three points of the khatvanga are planted on the ground, and one jumps there from the edge of the cliff. The right one is the body (སྐུ་, kū, Body), the left one is the nirmanakaya (སྤྲུལ་སྐུ།, sprul sku, Emanation Body), and if the middle one is inserted, one obtains the dharmakaya (ཆོས་སྐུ།, chos sku, Dharma Body). If all three are inserted, one obtains the three bodies (སྐུ་གསུམ།, sku gsum, Three Bodies). This is the intention of the three-pointed spear. This is the eighth chapter on wrong views. The doctrine of trade and assembly is: during trade or large gatherings, observe whether there is attachment and clinging to your own body, speech, and mind. It says: jump off a cliff and abandon your body, and be reborn as a retinue of the external Isvara. This is the intention of trade and assembly. This is the ninth chapter on wrong views. The doctrine of the meat-cooker is like this: the practice of adopting wrong views is to take out mirror-like flesh from one's own left and right arms and the crown of the head, put one's own body in a pit, and allow carrion-eating animals to eat it. It is thought to be the perfection of generosity. This is the tenth chapter on wrong views. The practice of adopting the behavior of a dog is: this is the evil behavior of animals. After entering the attire of a dog, one engages in various behaviors of a dog. It is thought to be taking pure discrimination as the path. This is the eleventh chapter on wrong practices. The doctrine of subtle clairvoyance is: for example, just as a skilled carpenter manifests the forms of men and women as so different and does all kinds of work, so too, for all things such as the Dharma, one performs the actions of clairvoyance oneself, and it is thought that one can be reborn as a retinue of the gods or Isvara. This is the twelfth chapter on wrong views. The doctrine of how the blessings of the Buddha appear is: all the powers, strengths, abilities, miracles, light, and rays are the superior qualities of the Buddha, and there are also those that arise without the need for effort or practice. No matter how the blessings of the Buddha appear, there is nothing more superior than this. That is what it says. This is the thirteenth chapter on wrong views. The wrong doctrine is viewed like this: transforming into animals such as tigers, saying that this is the quality of the Buddha, there are also those who engage in various animal behaviors. This is the intention of animal wrong views. This is the fourteenth chapter on wrong views. The doctrine of the agent as cause is viewed like this: for example, all of samsara and nirvana that appear are the actions of the practitioner, and all arrangements are the actions of the gods, and so on.
