The chapter on subduing the lower vehicle, the Kalachakra Tantra, the seventy-seventh chapter, which extensively explains the meaning of the self-arising wisdom of the fortunate ones. O Bhagavan, compassionate lord of skillful means! Sentient beings' deluded perceptions, the radiance of wisdom confused, The appearance of objects, ignorance, clinging solidified, Habitual tendencies and karmic forces bound together, The illusion of self-grasping is bound. Wandering in the sheath of habitual tendencies, traversing samsara, How does one liberate the fortunate ones' awareness onto the path? O sons of the lineage, listen carefully! The confusion of awareness in radiance Is not the confusion of awareness; it is the clinging that is confused. Like the eyes of one with cataracts, Non-existent, yet deluded clinging arises. It is not truly established, The coarse thoughts, outer and inner, And the intermediate afflictions, the basis of inner clinging. The substantial sheath of habitual tendencies, flesh, and blood, traverses the six realms of samsara. Through this, beings of the six realms experience the path of suffering. Outer bonds, inner bonds, secret bonds, The instruction for liberating the three bonds in their own place is: The three bonds are self-liberated, taught through oral instruction. Like illusion, dream, and rainbow, View appearances as empty, insubstantial, and of their own nature. The fortunate ones who have realized this, Because appearances are transparent and insubstantial, Are liberated in the natural radiance of awareness. Thus, from the Lion's Roar Intent, the chapter on realizing the liberation of bonds, the seventy-eighth chapter. O Bhagavan, compassionate lord of skillful means! How should one view appearances as illusory? Thus, he spoke: Because the radiance of light is realized, insubstantial illusion is destroyed. The illusion of arising appearances, the seasons of time, changes into years and months. The nature of particles gathering, transparent illusion, is not truly established. View it like a dream: When dreams constantly appear to be true, When deluded appearances are false dreams, When dreams are realized as clear and transparent light, View the arising sensations of the mind like a rainbow: When the mind's thoughts change, impermanent, grasping at one's own continuum, When the mind's thoughts change, impermanent, That itself is liberated into the radiance of clear light awareness. Thus, outer and inner, with clinging and afflictions, And inner clinging confusion, are determined in the radiance of wisdom, transcending confusion. Appearances are liberated in the nature of insubstantial, causeless emptiness. Intermediate afflictions vanish into the clear radiance of the five senses. Inner clinging, like a rainbow in the sky, dissolves into the wisdom mother. The three bonds are self-liberated, oral instruction.

This is the sixty-ninth chapter. Alas! Bhagavan, Lord of compassion and skillful means, how does one realize illusion? Answer: With permanence, one does not realize illusion; with annihilation, one does not realize it. With Madhyamaka emptiness, one does not realize the meaning of illusion. The meaning of illusion itself is difficult to realize. For individuals without the lineage of the Buddha, they do not realize the meaning of illusion through self-created teachings and heard teachings. Although mistaken appearances are the nature of illusion, they are obscured by clinging. Just as dreams are illusion, awakening dispels clinging. It is crucial for the guru to introduce the appearance of illusion. Realizing various illusions is the path of all Buddhas. For the appearance of wisdom that is like illusion, by expressing it with metaphors and words of advice that represent illusion, one firmly realizes the meaning of unchanging awareness. The spontaneously born wisdom, the three kayas, are illusion. One should also introduce that they appear but are intangible. Samadhi, practice, and experiential cultivation, one should examine the self-arising play of wisdom illusion. During conduct, one should view the non-dual illusion. All subtle and coarse delusions and grasping, one should dispel clinging by realizing that they are the nature of illusion and dreams, and are not truly existent. The play of sentient beings on the path of birth and death is within the state of illusion. The elements and sense bases of the generation stage are illusion, and the elements and sense bases of death are the completion stage. The union of the generation and completion stages is the light of wisdom illusion. For the self-aware Buddha nature, this teaching that is not an object of conceptual thought is taught. The self-aware nirmanakaya on the path is the state of compassion, the bardo of dharmata is the dharmakaya, pervasive and vast, and the arising of wisdom realization is the sambhogakaya. Wherever it transforms, the play of appearances is within the state of illusion. The various emanations of samsara, the three kayas are the skillful means of the play of illusion. For example, whatever a magician conjures, it is not truly established, but is the state of emptiness illusion, appearing as the skillful means of the magician's play. The inseparability of samsara and nirvana is the adornment of the play of the three kayas. This is the seventieth chapter from the meaning of the Lion's Roar, which cuts off conceptual clinging with the wisdom of illusion. Alas! Bhagavan, Lord of compassion and skillful means, the fortunate yogini of the path, what is it like if she practices? What are the faults if she does not practice? Answer: For the natural state of self-born wisdom, if one does not cultivate it with realization, then the individual who abides on the path, although the three kayas are spontaneously accomplished, still has not perfected the skillful means of wisdom. Subtle
